Hillbilly Elegy and French Exit. Because Glenn, Amy, and Michelle are the only actresses in the running this year I want to see win. The rest I’d rather lick a bar counter and get COVID than to see win.

Of these films, Viola has the most potentially transformative role. Based on its description, we’ve never seen her portray a character quite like this before. She’s going to eat it up!

    👑Cicely Tyson (1924-2021)
    👑Mary Wilson (1944-2021)

i feel like viola and Vanessa have the baitiest roles out of all the contenders. Viola has a transformative biopic role while Vanessa has literally the loud, screaming acting giving birth for a straight up 30 minutes

Since I’ve already seen McDormand (great as always, but nothing new) and Kirby (devastating, rooting for her first nom & win), I voted for Hillbilly Elegy cause I’m very eager to see if Glenn can finally do it, if she’s undeniable.

    2021 Award Season, FYC:

Best Actress: CAREY MULLIGAN for PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN
Best Actor: DELROY LINDO for DA 5 BLOODS
Best Supporting Actress: GLENN CLOSE for HILLBILLY ELEGY

Out of these, most looking forward to Pfeiffer in French Exit.

Voted Other, however, because I will never not be excited for a new Carax film. Hopefully Annette is worth it!

Nomadland looks like my kinda movie.

Ma Rainey looks good too but I’m not anticipating it with baited breath.

The way The Life Ahead never got any votes…

Without question, my numero uno is Viola Davis in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”! Then comes Vanessa Kirby in “Pieces of A Wonan”.

    <p style=”text-align: left;”>Why isnt Muligan on the list?</p>

Because this list was created a long time before Promising Young Woman was given an eligible release date (hence why Hillbilly Elegy is actually in this list). It wasn’t in consideration at the time.

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

Well the movie I’m most looking forward to is Nomadland, and Frances’ performance is part of why. Solely performance based, Kirby. Overall the most intriguing performance though is Andra Day, because I really don’t know what to expect and fingers crossed what she does blows me away because people here are hyping her up like nothing else.

    FYC:

Best Director - Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Darius Marder (Sound of Metal)

Lead Actor - Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal)

Supporting Actor - Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)

To be honest, I want Amy Adams to be nominated for an Academy Award for Hillbilly Elegy. Although the film was poorly received by most critics and audiences, I liked it. Even though both Glenn and Amy overplay a little, these are still the strongest performances this year.
