Maybe next year. I don’t think anyone associated with this year’s Best Picture nominees like DiCaprio is with Don’t Look Up should be presenting that category.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 25, 2022 at 8:05 am #1204816900Given that they’re a real-life couple and are both nominated this year, I’d like to see Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons present together. I’d also like to see some cast members from West Side Story present together, like Ariana DeBose and Rachel Zegler, or onscreen rivals David Alvarez and Mike Faist.
Given that he plays a documentarian in C’mon C’mon, perhaps Joaquin Phoenix should present the Best Documentary Feature category along with his onscreen nephew Woody Norman. And since child stars who tend to be in a Best Picture-nominated film usually end up as presenters, I hope we’ll see Jude Hill present something, either with his onscreen parents Jamie Dornan and Caitriona Balfe, or perhaps with other child stars like Woody Norman and/or Saniyya Sidney.

That would surely bring viewers in

Gene Hackman has retired. So I don’t think he’ll ever come and appear at the Oscars.

February 28, 2022 at 6:38 am #1204823775Not gonna happen. I’m sure they’ll probably present something, but it’s not going to be Best Picture. The last time someone really young presented Best Picture was in the 1980s, when Eddie Murphy presented Best Picture to The Last Emperor. Best Picture should always be presented by a true, iconic legend in the industry.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 28, 2022 at 6:40 am #1204823778I know, but since Anthony Hopkins almost certainly won’t present Best Actress I think it’d be really cool for Hackman to present on the 50th anniversary of his Best Actor win for The French Connection. It might not be realistic but I can dream lol.
Hackman’s over 90 now. We haven’t seen him at anything since he retired, and I can’t imagine him showing up at anything now. I don’t know if he’s vaccinated against COVID, but at his age, regardless of his vaccination status, it might be wise of him to stay at home anyway.
