Best Picture or Director: Clint Eastwood (30 years since his win for Unforgiven)
Best Actress: Ben Kingsley (40 years since his win for Gandhi)

If Smith can’t present actress, it’s likely they will have Chastain present something other than best actor. When Affleck didn’t present best actress because of MeToo, they had Stone present director instead of actor. Maybe that’s what Chastain will do?

I sure hope they do not do this. I really hope they stick to tradition as much as possible and invite Jessica Chastain to present Best Actor. I understand why they did what they did with Afflek not presenting in 2018, but it still made no sense why Stone could not present Best Actor. If they had Viola Davis and Mahershala Ali presenting their respective categories, why not have Stone do hers back then?
I love the idea above of having Ben Kingsley present Best Actress. This would be a wonderful way to honor him and his win for Gandhi 40 years ago. This would also somewhat keep the tradition of having a previous winner presenting the award.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2023 at 6:28 am #1205273327If sticking with the milestone anniversaries of release dates rather than of date of winning, then Best Picture costars Tom Cruise & Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man), Shirley MacLaine & Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment), and Robert De Niro & Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter) would all be great. Even though it wasn’t even nominated for Best Picture, The Way We Were was so iconic that, if possible, Robert Redford & Barbra Streisand should reunite to present Best Picture. Ellen Burstyn & Linda Blair would also make for a great reunion. Jane Fonda & Jon Voight would make for an extremely awkward one, but one that would definitely draw attention. And Leslie Caron (Gigi) and Mark Lester (Oliver!) would be interesting choices as well.

How about Abraham and Hulce? Wouldn’t have to be presenting for BP.

These are all really great ideas. I almost forgot this was the 95th Academy Awards as well. All the above ideas would be great ways to celebrate some of the history of the Oscars, and the achievements of the movies and stars so often associated with the Oscars.
