No kids or anyone who keeps pushing the idea that Animated Feature is just for that audience.

In case she wins the Grammy, I’d love if Viola presents something and it’s introduced as EGOT winning Actress.

Chastain is soon starting a play on Broadway, I’m wondering if she will still manage to be there to present Best Actor like tradition wants.

I’m fairly certain she will be there. The Oscars are on Sunday, March 12th, and even though A Doll’s House opens on Broadway on March 9th, the production appears to be shut down— at least tickets are unavailable to purchase— for both March 12th and 13th. that’d be a bit cringe and it’d have the oscars saying those others are equally as prestigious.

i mean, audrey’s my fave, but i don’t refer to her as ‘egot winning audrey.’

That’s great news! I love Jessica so I’m excited for her to be introduced on that stage as Academy Award winner.

One of the favorite parts of last year’s Oscars telecast were the onstage reunions of co-stars from different classics such as The Godfather, Juno, Pulp Fiction, and White Men Can’t Jump. Since this year’s Academy Awards will be the 95th ceremony, I think they should do more of those. The following were suggestions I already made in this thread such as…

Clint Eastwood & Morgan Freeman (Unforgiven)
Mark Hamill & Harrison Ford (Star Wars)
Shirley Jones & Ron Howard (The Music Man)
Shirley MacLaine & Jack Nicholson (Terms of Endearment)
Sam Neill, Laura Dern, & Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park)
Henry Thomas, Robert MacNaughton, & Drew Barrymore (E.T.)
Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic)

Here are some more ideas I’ve thought of:

Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, & Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential)
Dustin Hoffman & Katharine Ross (The Graduate)
Mark Lester & Shani Wallis (Oliver!)
Bill Murray & Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation)

@Jeffrey Kare, I love your ideas above but would like to add to them.

If you want to honor Star Wars, why not go even bigger and include either/or Billy Dee Williams and George Lucas.

Considering it has been 20 years since the film Monster was released, I would love to see them reunite Charlize Theron, Christina Ricci, and Patty Jenkins.

I have heard the name Jennifer Coolidge mentioned in this thread multiple times. Just for fun and laughs, why not reunite Coolidge, Eugene Levy, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, and Natasha Lyonne from American Pie. As someone who came of age when American Pie was first released, that would be beyond awesome.

The name Ian Mckellan has also been mentioned several times here. 2023 marks 20 years since the conclusion of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the release of The Return of the King. Maybe they could honor that milestone and achievement by reuniting Ian Mckellan, Viggo Mortensen, Elijah Wood, Live Tyler, and Peter Jackson. As a huge fan of the original trilogy, that would pretty much be a dream come true for me.

I believe ABC and the Academy have promised some very big legacy surprises at this year’s Academy Awards. In all honesty we have no idea what that might mean, and it could simply mean another lame tribute montage like the one they had to James Bond last year (man I hope not).

Or hopefully it means they do something like they did in 2009 when they had former winners (and mostly legends) presenting each of the four acting categories. If I remember correctly, my jaw just about hit the floor when THE Sophia Loren walked on stage to help present Lead Actress. I also remember the Academy did a good job of keeping these presentations a secret and leaving them a wonderful surprise for all of us watching. I do not remember why either Javier Bardem or Daniel Day Lewis did not participate, but those were still some of the most special moments I can recall from an Oscar telecast. It was also a real nice touch to have the pictures from each of their respective winning nights behind them.

I really hope they can do something like this again to honor the 95th anniversary of the Academy Awards.

If they do those kinds of presentations this year, here are my ideas…

    Best Actor:
    Austin Butler – Nicole Kidman
    Colin Farrell – Jessica Chastain
    Brendan Fraser – Sandra Bullock
    Paul Mescal – Olivia Colman
    Bill Nighy – Emma Thompson

    Best Actress:
    Cate Blanchett – Leonardo DiCaprio
Ana de Armas – Rami Malek
    Andrea Riseborough – Nicolas Cage
    Michelle Williams – Eddie Redmayne
    Michelle Yeoh – Ben Kingsley

    Best Supporting Actor:
    Brendan Gleeson – Maggie Smith
Brian Tyre Henry – Regina King
    Judd Hirsch – Ariana DeBose
    Barry Keoghan – Alicia Vikander
Ke Huy Quan – Yuh-jung Youn

    Best Supporting Actress:
    Angela Bassett – Morgan Freeman
    Hong Chau – Christoph Waltz
    Kerry Condon – Sam Rockwell
Jamie Lee Curtis – Kevin Kline
    Stephanie Hsu – Troy Kotsur

^Those are not bad ideas. I was thinking if they do something like they did in 2009, maybe they could select a previous winner from each of the past 5 decades (obviously including the winners from last year to cover this decade, except for Lead actress). I chose the past five decades as I would guess there is a higher likelihood of having more surviving winners to pick from those decades than if we go back further.

For example, in Lead Actor you could have the following individuals present:

    1980’s: Sally Field
    1990’s: Susan Sarandon
    2000’s: Kate Winslet
    2010’s: Jennifer Lawrence
    2020’s: Jessica Chastain

It does not have to be those above actresses, these are just examples of how the format would work. I think spreading it out over the decades would be a great way to honor some of the history of the Academy Awards.

I believe in 2009 each acting award had the corresponding sex honor each other (men honored male actors and women honored female actresses). I love the tradition they generally adhere to, the opposite sex honoring the next winner, but in the above instance it could go either way. Just please include last year’s winners (Kotsur, De Bose, and Chastain).

Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford present Best Picture to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Way We Were.

Clint Eastwood presents a tribute to Warner Bros. in honor of its 100th anniversary.

Robert Redford might present the In Memoriam segment with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic could perform the cover of Sarah McLachlan’s Angel, Elton John’s Candle In The Wind or John Farnhams’s Angels.
