Paquin walked away with a scene? Did you sleep through the movie?

I agree that the movie was a bore – but I managed to keep my eyes open for the entire five-year running time, largely thanks to her.

Just because Paquin made the most of her material doesn’t mean she was the best. De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci also made the most of their material, it’s just that they had way more to work with.

Those dudes were so drunk on their own importance they didn’t even notice how Paquin acted circles around them even though she indeed wasn’t thrown so much as a bone to play with. What they needed three and a half hours of non-stop dialogue to do, she pulled off with one silent glance.

    You are delusional.

While Pesci was good in the role (and it was certainly a more subdued portrayal than what he often gave in his other famous performances), I still came out of that movie thinking Pacino stole the whole thing. Any time he was onscreen, the movie had so much life.

Without Song Kang-Ho or Willem Dafoe in the category, Pacino was an easy winner for me.

Pacino. I’d say there’s an argument to be made to say he was robbed of the Oscar last year for this.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).
