    Joker was likely 4th or even 5th. For most of the season, The Irishman was the frontrunner, but by the end of the season it was essentially down to either Jojo Rabbit or Little Women, with Irishman likely in third. The Two Popes, while not a BP nom like Joker, got a lot more citation for its screenplay specifically, while Joker’s screenplay was more likely a coattail nomination and was never something that people brought up as specific praise and is usually considered one of the weaker parts of the film as a whole.

    For this year, I think the runners-up were The Trial of the Chicago 7 (for Original) and Nomadland (for Adapted).
