What do you mean with “she is not well spoken as Blanchett is” ? And which questions does she need to answer for Ammonite?

Questions like: shouldn’t your character be played by a lesbian? She might be reminded of working with Allen and Polanski too.

As for the other thing, it might be just my impression, but Blanchett is more intellectual and can find smart, thoughtful answer on the hardest question. Winslet – I’m not so sure.

Winslet isn’t even bad at interviews lets not. Some of your best actress favorites found ways to get themself dragged from just wearing and explaining their outfit and it’s not because of the fashion look. If they’re gonna ask Winslet why her character isn’t played by a lesbian, they’d have to ask Saoirse that too and Saoirse is 4 oscar noms in, not some fresh face newbie trying to get their foot in the door.

Zellweger only won because she was perceived overdue for a Lead win and many voters forgot she won already for Supporting.

Her Cold Mountain win was an overdue win. Nobody cared during her hiatus that she never won lead.

Didn’t get this, why Cotillard should be forgot by Hollywood and French industry?  I mean she is the greatest actor France have ever had. She also got a oscar nomination in 2015 for a french movie in the lead category.

I didn’t say that she should be forgotten by Hollywood and the French film industry, just that it seems she’s been offered less interesting/prestigious projects as of late (apart from “Annette” of course). Just look at her career post Oscar nom.

Which performances do you think to be top 3 Kidman’s best? And which do you think to be top 3 Winslet best actually?

Deadline reports that Winslet is getting a tribute award at TIFF. It seems her campaign for Ammonite begins soon.

So Winslet is supposed to start shooting a movie about Lee Miller next year. Could be her ticket to a second Oscar, but the film might be too small, kind of like “Ammonite”.

As for Kidman, we don’t know if she’s still doing “The Northman” and she hasn’t been announced in a new film project recently. She seems to be more focused on TV as of late anyway. It looks like she will also get back on stage at some point. I would love to see her win a Tony, but that’s for another thread.

My mind changes about this often but I think

    1) The Hours
    2) Rabbit Hole
    3) Dogville

I think she was perfectly cast in The Others but she wasn’t as deeply connected to the character as she can be.

I hope she manages to stay on the project. I really wanted to see Nicole play an intense, meaty role similar to those Eggers has written for his past films.

It has to be Nicole. Kate really has no business being a two-time Oscar winner. She’s fine, but she’s spent the last 20 years taking baity roles looking for Academy validation. Rekindling her onscreen relationship with Leo for Revolutionary Road, extremely baity roles in The Dressmaker, Steve Jobs, Wonder Wheel, Eternal Sunshine, and now jumping on a lesbian romance film straight after Portrait of a Lady on Fire’s acclaim, and with Oscar nomination darling Saoirse Ronan? I feel like she’s worn out her good favour with the academy. Who’ve been more than willing to award her again, but she just can’t deliver the right package. And now everyone is tired.

Kidman is the antithesis of Winslet. Risk taking. Cutting edge. Trend setting. She worked with Yorgos Lanthimos before Hollywood embraced him entirely. Took chances with The Paperboy, The Goldfinch, Destroyer. I could go on. She’s also quite content with being a part of an interesting project even if it means taking a supporting role – see Boy Erased and Bombshell. When the Kubrick-collaborator decides to once again take a role that doesn’t just please critics, but also panders to the general public, the academy will be jumping over itself to hand another statue to Nicole. Especially ahead of the likes of Winslet.

hope those saying nicole are trolling around, it’s pretty obvious it will be kate. i’m not a fan of kate at all and even prefer nicole but i don’t need to elaborate when she was literally super close to winning a second just a few years ago.
