Blanchett perhaps?October 24, 2020 at 11:10 pm #1203801037
I’m confident Washington, Blanchett and Winslet will reach 10 nominations. Any one of them could be the first.October 25, 2020 at 12:48 am #1203801108
You should add how many noms each have.October 25, 2020 at 1:11 am #1203801118
👑Cicely Tyson (1924-2021)
👑Mary Wilson (1944-2021)October 25, 2020 at 2:33 am #1203801143
Al Pacino- 9
Denzel Washington- 8
Cate Blanchett- 7
Robert De Niro- 7
Jeff Bridges- 7
Judi Dench- 7
Kate Winslet- 7
Glenn Close- 7
Tom Hanks- 6
Leonardo DiCaprio- 6
Winslet, Close and Hanks could receive another nomination this year.
The Irishman felt like a farewell nod to Pacino, so although he’s the closest- I don’t really see him getting another nomination.
I can see Dench getting her 8th, but unfortunately I can’t see her getting another 3 nominations in her career.
So the best bets are Blanchett, DiCaprio, Winslet and Washington

Pacino is currently the most nominated male actor working today with nine Oscar nominations, and he has the Ridley Scott movie “Gucci” with Lady Gaga coming up next year or in 2022, so he could easily be the first one.
Then after him, I can see DiCaprio reaching it. He has six acting nominations already at the age of 45 years old, making him the third youngest male actor ever who achieved this feat, behind only Jack Nicholson and Richard Burton (both managed to get 6 nominations at 44 years old, only one year younger than LDC).October 25, 2020 at 4:10 am #1203801163
Pacino for Gucci.October 25, 2020 at 5:23 am #1203801198
If Pacino’s role in Gucci is meaty enough he could get a tenth. I imagine his chances will depend on if whoever is playing Gucci himself (Driver?) is in enough of the movie to justify going Lead or would be the priority in Supporting. If it sticks to its current release date of Nov 2021 that season will be so stacked I can’t see it getting multiple Supporting Actor noms.
DiCaprio doesn’t seem to work as much these days but he gets nominated for pretty much everything he does of late and as others have mentioned is only 45 so he’ll definitely get to 10. Blanchett will probably get there before him though as she’s closer already and has more potentially Oscar-y projects in the works. Denzel too – he’s all but guaranteed a ninth for Macbeth.October 25, 2020 at 5:37 am #1203801213
Peeps are forgetting that Denzel Washington is an Oscar magnet. All he needs to do is get back on set
Anticipate "Hold My hand".
Lady Gaga is a geniusOctober 25, 2020 at 6:57 am #1203801271
People really think Blanchett will reach ten before Pacino…? Hilarity.
I mean Pacino has only just recently started up on prestige pictures again, while Blanchett has been working consistently in them for awhile. It’s not a far fetched idea that she gets it first, even if he only needs one more film to get there.October 25, 2020 at 7:07 am #1203801298

I said similar but just realised that after Gucci Pacino is playing King Lear which could well get him over the line even if he misses next year.October 25, 2020 at 7:39 am #1203801342

No I get that, and I think he has a great chance of making 10 soon, but the idea that it was apparently nonsensical for Blanchett to make it before him rubbed me the wrong way.October 25, 2020 at 7:45 am #1203801348
It’s between Pacino and Denzel. Denzel securing his 9th nom for ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’ seems more than likely. It will come down to Pacino and ‘Gucci’ and how meaty his role is. The King Lear project is still in development I think, so no telling when that actually comes into fruition.October 25, 2020 at 8:00 am #1203801360
