Who would be the best replacement for Robin Williams' Genie in the new Aladdin?

The recent Beauty and the Beast adaptation has had its amazing reviews, and its not so stellar reviews. I was someone who liked it quite a lot. The live action adaptations have been such a success a lot will be riding on these next few projects, one of which being Aladdin.

The biggest hurdle for the new Aladdin is going to be casting the Genie. Robin Williams left such an impression with his performance many have called it one of the the best animated vocal performances ever.

What is probably going to happen is that they are going to get a huge and reliable movie star. Also if they wanted a female that is even more of a difficult task.

My pick for a male would be Billy Crystal and for a female would be Audra McDonald. She proved to be quite the cinematic performer in Beauty and the Beast. I think she could leave an impression.

Any thoughts?

Yes!!! Jim Carey would be an excellent choice.

And please no Kevin Hart or Jack Black, Chris Rock/Eddie Murphy might be a better option. And certainly no gender reversal with the likes of Amy Poehler.

But at the end of the day imma cut a bitch if they hired anyone other than Middle Eastern people to play Aladdin or Jasmine. If they do, i hope people ghost-in-the-shell their ass off.

If they do it they cant try and mimic Robins performance, if they go with someone like Jim Carey or jack Black its going to make everyone draw comparisons. I think if they just change the genie and make him/ her different then they wont have to worry about changing peoples memory of the Genie and they can make a whole new character . i voted for Amy

Even though it’s not likely going to happen, I’d love to see James Monroe Iglehart reprise his Tony-winning performance as the Genie in the film.

If not, how about Robert Downey, Jr.?

If they go in a completely different direction, what if they go with… don’t kill me… wait for it… Janelle Monae

I also think Taraji P Henson would make an interesting take on the Genie.
