I mentioned only the four best performances of each. Since you mentioned all of these Hardy films, then I will also mention Macbeth, Fish Tank, Inglorious Basterds, 300, Jane Eyre, A dangerous method … In other words, Fassbender still better.

Ah. I should have figured. I still disagree, but fair enough.

My thrill for both actors has gone down because of bad choices in roles. It’s clear that the mainstream public likes Hardy a million times more than Fassbender and that’s because Fassbender is too cold and intense on screen to be a movie star. Hardy is intense but can be fun and playful.  Fassbender should stick to Indies.

Who is the better actor? Both have their issues. They are both about even to me. I can’t pick one over the other.

I’ve seen Hardy play a mumbling unintelligible thug too many times and it soured me on him a bit. I do like him better than Fassbender overall, but think Fassbender is the better actor.

In both cases, their presence in a movie will make me less likely to see it.

    Wow! Opposite for me.

I guess there are just other actors who’s involvement in a project would get me excited about it, and neither Hardy nor Fassbender fall into that category for me.

I have seen a few movies of both and neither are a driving force for me to see a movie.

Do you think Fassy will venture to prestige TV and perhaps win an Emmy? I think he has better chances. At least Tom’s doing really well with Peaky Blinders. And Fassbender on television would be a change from having Cumberbatch or Andrew Scott on every series or miniseries lmao

I love Tom Hardy and love to see him on screen but I have to go with Michael Fassbender.

Now both are one of the best acting talents of their respective generations but Fassbender wins this one for me so far.

Hardy’s acting can at times feel so much focused on putting on an accent and looking tough whereas Fassbender can achieve better role depth which is so much important for me.

Both have been great in not so good films, Fassbender was magnificent as Magneto and Hardy were brilliant in Legend.

Fassbender was perfect in Shame for which he should win Best Actor in 2011 and Hardy was perfect in Locke for which he should have been a nominee but 2013 was blood bath.

And Yes, both should utilize their talents with better scripts and roles, they owe it to their acting gift and skills.
