The prequels sounded extremely good on paper. If someone had read to me a summary of the script, I’d have jumped right in. I mean, it sounds like a critically acclaimed space opera with political themes. It’s just that the result was what it was.

Part of what makes me upset about the prequels is that they could’ve been so damn good. They have their moments, but the plot just feels too damn messy.

Because she actually takes risks and makes bold choices. It’s also the reason why her highs are a lot higher than most (if not all) actresses of her generation.

I love that she takes risks even if it doesn’t always pay off. I have a lot of respect for this type of actors. Probably why I’ve never warmed up to DiCaprio.

Darlings, Natalie is talented as hell. Don’t act like roles offered to women are as good as the ones who offer to males in this disgusting industry.

She doesn’t seem to work with a lot of A-list directors, which makes me think that A-list directors aren’t itching to work with her.

Perhaps this is untrue. But it not, what roles has she been offered that she has passed on?

I love her, though I think her filmography represents how people also see her as an actress. Before Closer and maybe even Black Swan, not too many considered her to be a great actress. Some of her films are trash but others are very experimental. So when she goes high, it’s HIGH baby. Black Swan and Jackie show that.

Am I the only one who thinks Jackie was just…okay?

No, I thought it was merely a bad impersonation.

No. I also had some problems going trough the movie. Natalie was good in it but I don’t think she was THAT amazing, not to mention that she sounded NOTHING like Jackie Kennedy. She had some great scenes and I do think she was fully deserving of the nomination but definitely not the win. Isabelle Huppert was FAR superior in my opinion. I think Anne Bancroft would’ve been so great in this role, if the movie had been done in 60s/70s. Anne had a very similar voice to Jackie.

Have you even seen footage of Jackie O? She nailed the voice.

I have actually. That’s why I said Anne Bancroft would’ve been perfect for this role back in 60s because her tone voice was very similar to Jackie. And even physically she resembled Jackie way more than Natalie.

This is a real life footage of Jackie’s White House Tour. I compared the two and I do think Natalie got some of her voice mannerisms but her pitch is totally off. Her tone is way high and I feel like she exaggerated in some scenes as well. But this is just my opinion obviously.

Lol sure. Sounds like you’re just a Bancroft stan, considering JFK was shot in 63. The thought of there even being a movie made about it in that same decade is just…inappropriate and insensitive.

Lord have mercy it’s just a “what if” situation.

Sweetheart OK maybe I’m a (huge) fan of Bancroft but I only mentioned her because I recently revisited some Jackie footage (because of this thread tbh) and I wasn’t a fan of Bancroft back in 2016. I only became a fan (or a stan) after I watched The Graduate for the first time (like two months ago). After that I started watching more movies and footage of Anne. And then came this thread and once again I revisited some footage of Jackie and it was when I realized her voice was very similar to Anne. That’s why I mentioned her. Don’t get offended please. It was just a suggestion. I don’t think making a movie about it in like 68 or 69 (or early 70s) would’ve been THAT crazy. But like I said it was just a suggestion.

But forgetting about Bancroft for a moment, because I think you missed my point. My whole point was that Natalie didn’t nailed it as you or other people believe she did (again my opinion). Just comparing the White House Tour (real life footage and movie), Natalie didn’t get her voice tone at all. Her pitch was WAY high and by the final moments of that scene, she exaggerated a bit. Jackie had a more lower pitch. She understood her voice mannerisms but failed a bit with the pitch and tone. And once again I only mentioned Bancroft because of her tone voice and physicality being a bit similar. That’s all.
