Why do you think Cho Yeo-jeong (Mrs. Park) became the poster child for Parasite?

It’s interesting because every time you look up Parasite she’s typically the face you see on most to all of the advertisements and in a lot of articles. What are your thoughts? Why do you think this is?

1. She’s beautiful.

2. There are lots of stills where she gasps that’s perfect for advertisements.
3. Her character in the movie is oblivious but likable and glowing.

I honestly wasn’t aware of her being the poster child for it. I figured Song Kang-ho was due to being the most famous actor and giving the film’s most acclaimed performance.

I do think, at least for me, that she left the biggest impression on me in terms of the cast (I think my knowledge of Song Kang ho helped me expect the great performance we got from him).

As has been said, the combo of her looks and her character arc and performance all made for great publicity tools.

Even if she was my favorite, ALL of the women were fantastic in this film.

Yeah, she definitely left the biggest impression on me too. She was definitely my favorite. It could have been so easy for the character to feel like a stereotype or caricature but Cho really gave an excellent performance, and I think the best performance in the film. I feel like she honestly should have been nominated and even won an Oscar, she was that good. Of course the whole cast was great but it’s just something about Cho’s performance that really made her a standout in an all-around excellent ensemble.

She also had some English lines (“I’m deadly serious”), which cleverly were used in some of Neon’s commercials. Perhaps those lines made some people think it was an English language thriller?

Parasite is such a brilliant ensemble piece, I feel like most people have different favorite supporting actresses. None of them had enough screen time for their to be a universal favorite/enough to merit a S. Actress Oscar nom.

I really liked Park So-Dam’s very funny, subtle work the most.
