I think it´s sad that most of the films mentioned are sequels, reworks, spinoffs or remakes.

Where are the new ideas in Hollywood?

At the very least, it will probably be Disney’s biggest year. Their lineup is insane. I do wonder if they’re doing themselves a disservice with some of the releases that are closer to each other, but they’ve managed to navigate that pretty well these past few years.

I think we shouldn’t step ahead of ourselves here – let’s just wait. Same was said about many other years before the successor to this year. And they weren’t as big as people predicted. 2019 especially seems unlikely; more than half of the movies people are most excited for are either sequels or remakes. But what could be exciting is the development of new scripts DURING that year, which is an odd thing to say but it is what it is.

Not to mention the movie that will hopefully sweep all the awards, The Irishman!

It feels like a bit much. I hate this new sequel/remake world we are in, but consumers love it.

Since that list was mostly franchises, I think it can be the biggest year in terms of box office.

this really is a bit much, I didn’t hate that beauty and the beast remake by any measure (except for that couldn’t-be-more-basic yellow dress) but do we really need remakes of aladdin and the lion king in the same fucking year?
