Just this season, Bong Joon-Ho winning over Sam Mendes in directing. Anyways, Parasite winning against 1917 is one of the best decisions the Academy made.

I think about this one at least once a day

I second this. I think she gives my favorite supporting performance this decade. I don’t think Janney was bad but there was so much more to Metcalf’s performance to me.

Oh, I remembered another one from 2015: Earned It getting nominated over Love Me Like You Do from Fifty Shades of Grey. The latter is a way better song and got all the precursor nominations, but the academy just had to have at least one black nominee that year so they gave it to The Weeknd.

Most people agree that song is bad, so really it was just kinda embarrassing. I imagine if the Razzies still had their Worst Song category, then The Weeknd would absolutely earn a nomination there.

This is not so much a bad Oscar decision as it is idiocy on my behalf that I’ll never forgive myself for: I still can’t get over moving away from Hacksaw Ridge for Editing. I knew it was likely to win because it had the most editing, but I sheeped and went with La La Land. Stupid me.

Of course the winning of Art Carney, when Nicholson and pacino were nominated, like what the fuck

Tom Hooper winning over David Fincher, to me The king’s speech shouldn’t be compared with the social network

The Truman show losing original screenplay to Shakespeare in love, actually Shakespeare in love won so many undeserved awards.

Viggo was better than Rami Malek

Dunkirk losing best picture and director for The Shape of Water, they gave it to the fuckin fish.

Richard Linklater not winning any award for Boyhood (he deserved direction), he spent 12 years filming the film for heaven’s sake.

Scarlett losing to Renée, Renée was really good, but Scarlett was way better.

Three billboards losing original screenplay to Get out (political reasons)

Gone Girl only receiving one nomination was the biggest fuckery in history.

It’s interesting that people always mention Carney beating Pacino and Nicholson, but they also seem to forget he beat out Dustin Hoffman for Lenny and Albert Finney for Murder on the Orient Express. I guess they don’t get mentioned as often since their films and performances aren’t regarded with the same iconic status as Pacino’s and Nicholson’s, but it’s still crazy to think that Carney, an actor who mainly worked in TV, beat out four cinematic legends who had never won at that point for his movie about him and a cat.

The fact that Oliver beat 2001: A Space Odyssey is still painful.

Bohemian Rhapsody winning anything.  Was slightly better than a made for TV movie with horrid lip synching.  Rami Malek was awful – Bale, Cooper and Viggo were all better in much better movies.

I’m going to have a tough time getting over Dern winning when all the women in Parasite were better and weren’t even nominated.

James McAvoy being snubbed for Atonement.
Jake Gyllenhaal being snubbed for Nightcrawler.
Ralph Fiennes being snubbed for Grand Budapest Hotel.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows being massivly snubed in the super weak 2011.
Ex Machina winning Visual Effects over Mad Max and Star Wars
Hugo winning visual Effects over Rise of the Planet of the Apes
First Man winning Visual Effects over Avengers: Infinity War
Inception not getting nominated for both Director and Editing!!!!!!!

There are more that I will add later.

Having a better written script is a political reason?

I think that’s probably the worst mistake they’ve made in a while. Bohemian Rhapsody genuinely had terrible editing and I don’t think anyone can dispute that. I haven’t met a single person who doesn’t mate that win, regardless of whether or not they liked the film (and I actually enjoyed it).

The only other one I can really think of is Spotlight beating out Mad Max Fury Road, The Big Short, and The Martian (but especially Fury Road) for Best Picture, and Inside Out for Best Original Screenplay. I’m sure it’s fine, but Fury Road is tied for best film of the decade with Parasite, and Inside Out has a Top 3 screenplay of the decade. Both films deserved the win more.

You haven’t even seen it? Sorry but I believe this makes your take invalid.

Big fan of Better Call Saul, Sex Education, Barry, BoJack Horseman, and, especially, Survivor
