Vikander definitely hasn’t capitalized on her Oscar win. Her choices when it comes to films have been meh recently.
To be fair Tulip Fever, Euphoria, The Glorias, Light Between Oceans etc were all baity offers on paper. Not her fault they all flopped. At least she tried something different with the Tomb Raider franchise also, she’s been flooded with offers which have just been a string of disappointments, her post-Oscar career is bizarre. I think I’m the only one who loved her winning performance, despite the category fraud.

ReplyCopy URLApril 18, 2021 at 2:31 am #1204206856Definitely not my worst pick, but I dislike Janney’s win. I didn’t think she acted enough…mainly with her voice. She didn’t even try to sound like a much older woman in the interview scenes. I found it to be rather jarring.
I’ll go with Renee Zellweger as my choice from what I’ve seen.

It’s not her fault, but I agree her choices have been bizarre. She has The Green Knight in post-production, and will be back for the Tomb Raider sequel. Misha Green recently signed on to write and direct it. When it comes to other recent Oscar winners her age, Lawrence, Stone, and Larson seem to have fared better career-wise. Anne Hathaway hasn’t made good choices when it comes to films lately either.

Larson isn’t doing that great either imo. Outside Captain Marvel and Endgame, her movie choices have been extremely questionable.
ReplyCopy URLApril 18, 2021 at 4:45 am #1204206912Worst Winners:
1. Regina King (did she do anything in it?)
2. Viola Davis (won only because she was overdue after just 2 noms LOL and not because of “playing herself” performance; also category fraud)
3. Alicia Vikander (Category fraud; should have won for Ex-Machina in supporting)
4. Jennifer Hudson (Oscar is an award for ACTING and NOT singing; this should have been also TOLD to AMPAS members who nominated Gaga for her playing herself in that nothing performance)
5. Judi Dench (you all know why)

Yeah, that’s true. She also directed a movie called Unicorn Store which got really bad reviews.

ReplyCopy URLApril 18, 2021 at 7:34 am #1204207065I don’t think any of the wins were terrible…..just that my vote would have gone for someone different. For example, I would have chosen Diane Ladd (in “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”) over Ingrid Bergman. I would have voted for Maureen Stapleton (in “Airport”) over Helen Hayes. It’s just how the voting goes, but all of the winners are deserving.
