Why wouldn’t Stone be nominated? And Colman obviously would have been a lock in supporting.

I was wondering if Blunt or somebody else could have beat her for the nomination.

No- Stone’s performance was outstanding and she is an Academy favorite.

I’ve always felt that Stone has never really completely disappeared into a character. I don’t think she’d get a nomination in lead. Elsie Fischer gave a brilliant performance , surprised she didn’t get much recognition.

None of them would win. Though Colman as supporting would have swept the hell out of this season. And that left Close easily sweep the hell out of this season too. Think of how satisfied we all could have been if The Favorite had had correct categories placements and not left such a mess.

Weisz should have beaten King in supporting.

No. They couldn’t even beat Regina King, who missed BAFTA and SAG. So why would they win against Glenn Close? They weren’t critical favorites and they both already have an Oscar. Weisz couldn’t prevail at SAG over Emily Blunt, who wasn’t an Oscar nominee. She only won BAFTA because she never won there and they went crazy over The Favourite.

Better question is would they even be nominated? Any of them ahead of Collette would have been a travesty. The level of Cooper getting in for Sniper ahead of Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler.

Easily. I swear some of y’all will just hate on Emma no matter how good she is.

    Preach, sis.

If Emma was in lead, as she should, she would’ve just taken Olivia Colman’s spot and just like in supporting she wouldn’t even be in talks for a win being 3rd or 4th place with Melissa, the locked nominations who have no chance at all. Emily Blunt would still have to fight the last spot with Yalitza

Then Colman of course would have rolled the dice in supporting, Regina wouldn’t have a prayer.

If Rachel Weizs were more proeminent in the last quarter of the film she could have been in conversation for a lead placement (since in the first half she was co-lead with Emma). But as didn’t happen, she’s supporting in any case

As in the Comedy Globes, I could have seen Blunt taking it with Olivia in supporting because of her role being more hyped. And HFPA didn’t seem big fans of The Favourite. If it had gotten Comedy Film at least I could say Emma Stone would take Comedy Actress

If ASIB went Comedy/Musical I still have no clue of what would happen because HFPA made it clear they weren’t crazy about, however Gaga’s name could have been enough for a win, but she would be nowhere to get Glenn in the other awards

Colette’s film had no support at all during the season. She was just internet buzz that went nowhere. And The Favourite was loved coming nominations.

If Marina De Tavira and Yalitza can get nominated due to the support of their films, ofc Emma Stone would be

I meant that her win isn’t that impressive considering the fact that she built her momentum just before the Oscars voting begins. She was the last one to win a precursors, so I believe she got a major boost which helped a lot. If SAG were televised just before voting begins, and BAFTAs way before, Close would have prevailed.

Okay, just unsure why this was posted as a response to mine.
