There was once a time when Jack Nicholson was a young, hotshot actor and has now risen to become one of the greatest actors of all time. Meryl Streep was once a small supporting player, and is now a major actress with many records.
Which actors/actresses under the age of 30 will become legends in the future? Whose career do you see them emulating?August 28, 2012 at 11:33 am #68450
I think the obvious example is Saorise Ronan (I’m not being biased as I’m irish). She may not be widely known as a box office star but with an oscar nomination at the age of 13, a snub (Lovely Bones), a potential box office success (The host) and maybe a likely nominations for How I Live Now, Mary Queen of Scots. All before she is 21, that’s what I call legend in the making.August 28, 2012 at 11:59 am #68451
Miss Jodie FosterAugust 28, 2012 at 12:12 pm #68452
Jodie Foster is a) not young and b) already a legend.
I don’t know who to predict becoming a “legend”. So many actresses and actors disappeared off the screen… I say any actress/actor working constantly aka making movies and get some fame for at least 15-20 years are on a good way.August 28, 2012 at 12:14 pm #68453
I can see Emma Stone doing a Tom Hanks-type movie career where she alternates between Comedy and Drama and hopefully win an Oscar soon.August 28, 2012 at 12:23 pm #68454
Jessica Chastain and Michael Fassbender I think are the safest bets at this stage.August 28, 2012 at 12:46 pm #68455

I’m going to also throw out there (my remaining 9 of 10 under 30):
Chloe Grace Moretz
Emma WatsonAugust 28, 2012 at 12:52 pm #68456
I can see Anne Hathaway becoming a legend. Also, Viola Davis, though she may not fit the “young” characteristic.
Even though she is not young at all, i think with her Oscar Buzz and her Emmy win, Margo Martindale may be on her way. She definitely deserves it.August 28, 2012 at 1:08 pm #68457
The Fanning sisters are overrated. And Emma Watson can’t act.
I see Saorise Ronan becoming a successful, respected actress. And maybe Chloe Moretz.August 28, 2012 at 1:14 pm #68458

Gross. She will never become a legend. And honestly, she does not deserve to be a legend. She did nothing to be a legend. Had two famous roles. An overrated cameo performance in Doubt which was definitely not Oscar-worthy (I watched it again, and still, she’s good and had a very emotional part, but it’s nothing just a good cameo, IMO) and another overrated one in The Help.which also wasn’t Oscar-worthy at all consider that who were left out aka Theron in Young Adult; Paquin in Margaret or Swinton in We Need to Talk About Her. People seem to love her but I don’t get why. She’s far away for being a good or legendary actress. She’s a fine character actress and Hollywood is all over the place with these type of actresses. They are good in their roles but that’s all. They never become a huge actress.August 28, 2012 at 1:28 pm #68459
Dakota Fanning (though she may already be a legend)
Anne HathawayAugust 28, 2012 at 2:13 pm #68460
Miss Frost, I thought the same thing about Dakota Fanning! Her young career probably won’t be overshadowed by another child star for a LONG time!
Immediately, when I saw this list, I thought of Chloe Moretz. I think she’s something special and she’s driving me to see movies I wouldn’t otherwise watch. She varies up the genre and size of her projects and she’s definitely got the potential to break out, especially if Carrie isn’t a MAJOR flop.
Beyond that, Jennifer Lawrence seems obvious given the Oscar nomination and huge buzz from The Hunger Games. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are already on their way. Emma Watson, given the right choices, could be a legend and a big success story (after years of being seen in the same light, she becomes one of the best actresses ever, blah, blah, blah, etc.). Jesse Eisenberg possibly but he has fallen off the radar recently (but he’s got five movies in production).
I don’t know how old we’re talking when we say young actors, but I’ll add to the chorus that says Anne Hathaway will be a legend. After starting off as a bright star in The Princess Diaries, she’s remainded consistent for almost eleven years. With a possible Oscar on the way, she’s certainly on the right track.August 28, 2012 at 2:31 pm #68461
I nearly forgot about Ms. Hathaway!! I agree… Make my list 11.August 28, 2012 at 3:28 pm #68462
Yeah Anne Hathaway is the fiorst one to come to mind. From Princess Diaries, Ella Enchanted, etc to more mature films Brokeback Mountain, and hits like The Devil Wears Prada. Now she does serious romance such as Love and Other Drugs then being part of summer movies such as Dark Kngiht Rises and Alice in Wonderland, then even small indies such as Rachel Getting Married and now big musicals such as Les Mis for which she’ll probably win an Oscar.
Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are gonna be big and will be in for years as well. Then Saoirse gives me Tilda Swinton vibe.
