    2010: Inception?

    2011: A Separation

    2012: Wolf Children

2013: Irony-watching The Great Gatsby, or if it’s earnest, Her

    2014: The Grand Budapest Hotel

2015: Mad Max Fury Road narrowly edges out Tangerine and the VVitch

2016: Do not dare make me choose between Moonlight and Your Name

I might choose Your Name because of what that film means to my life and changes personally

    2017: The Shape of Water

    2018: The Favourite

2019: Parasite, but Bacurau and Promare are very close. Amazing year for non-American cinema, terrible year for American cinema.

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Wolfwalkers

    Best Animated Feature: Wolfwalkers

Since this forum has received a lot of new replies within the last few days, I decided to finish the work that t-clark started a few months ago, but didn’t finish, of finding out the top 3 results for each year. In adding up votes, I did add up ties, but NOT runner-ups. And for those of you who submitted twice with modifications to your original response, I only based my tally on your most recent entry. With all that being said, here are the top 3 films that received the most number of votes from each year.

    2010:
    1. The Social Network—24 votes
    2. Inception—14 votes
    3. Black Swan—10 votes

    1. The Tree Of Life—8 votes
    2. Drive and Hugo—7 votes
    3. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and A Separation—5 votes

    2012:
    1. Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty—7 votes
    2. The Master and Silver Linings Playbook—6 votes
    3. Life Of Pi and Lincoln—5 votes

    2013:
    1. Her—15 votes
    2. Gravity—12 votes
    3. 12 Years A Slave—9 votes

    2014:
    1. The Grand Budapest Hotel—12 votes
    2. Birdman—10 votes
    3. Whiplash—9 votes

    2015:
    1. Mad Max: Fury Road—18 votes

DH2 was honestly stunning. It should have really gotten into some of the top categories at the Oscars. This would have been THE chance for the Academy to acknowledge Alan Rickman. His performance as Snape was somehow still fresh the eight time around, and the memory scene was just soul-crushing.

    FYC - Oscars 2022:
NINE DAYS in all categories, including:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Director
    - Best Original Screenplay
    - Best Actor (Winston Duke)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Zazie Beetz)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Benedict Wong)

I remember in 2011, many people and critics were predicting Deathly Hallows Part 2 to be nominated in some major categories like Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenclay cause it was the best reviewed movie of 2011 (96% Rotten Tomatoes and 87 Metacritic). But the Oscars were a mess that year and chose Hugo (93% Rotten Tomatoes and 83 Metacritic) instead because of Martin Scorsese… that’s a shame even if Hugo is a good movie.
