Sissy Spacek – Coal Miner’s Daughter

Diane Keaton – Reds (the best role of her career and criminally undercelebrated, IMO).

 Meryl Streep – Sophie’s Choice

Debra Winger – Terms of Endearment

No winner because I honestly did not watch enough lead female performances that year.

Norma Aleandro – The Official Story & Mia Farrow – The Purple Rose of Cairo (tie)

Sissy Spacek- Night, Mother & Chloe Webb – Sid & Nancy (tie)

 Sally Kirkland – Anna

 Glenn Close –  Dangerous Liasons

Andy McDowell – Sex, Lies and Videotape

Going through this list, I realized I need to watch a lot more of the non-nominated female performances in the 1980s including foreign performances to make this list more complete.
