She has always been one of my favourites but her performances in Elle and The Piano Teacher are some of the best ever put to screen. Who else but Huppert would play a rape victim who doesn’t respond the way you think after her attack, she was funny , she was shcking, she was mean she was sexy all in this one character and she should have won the Oscar. Who else but Huppert would take on a role about a piano reacher who develops a sadomasochist relationship with one of her students, she’s desperate, hungry, and sexy again. she deserved an Oscar for this performance too. She’s the epitome of a feral wolf anytime she on screen she’ll leave carnage in her wake and I’m here for it more than any other ActressNovember 25, 2019 at 8:17 pm #1203203452
there are quite a lot of great ones to choose from but I’ll have to go with la ceremonie as well, one of my all-time favoritesNovember 29, 2019 at 4:53 am #1203207779
La Cérémonie, La Pianiste and Elle are all masterclasses in acting. I give the slight edge to La Pianiste just because Huppert goes to such psychological extremes while remaining impassive for much of the film (though not so much in the final stretch); this relies on her exemplary technical control of expression. I also though she was really underrated in Amour; most of the fanfare was rightly surrounding Jean-Louis Trintignant and especially Emmanuelle Riva, but Huppert deserved a supporting nomination for sure. I still need to see some of her early work such as The Lacemaker and Violette Nozière, as well as Claire Denis’s White Material.November 29, 2019 at 7:30 am #1203207924
She is also quite good in Things to Come. My favorite is Elle.November 29, 2019 at 9:21 am #1203208006
My favourite from her is 8 Women, I think her comic timing is very underrated. Other than that I can’t decide between Things to Come/White Material.

ElleNovember 30, 2019 at 12:34 am #1203209077
Most of her work with Chabrol (Violette Noziere, Story of a Women, La Cérémonie), The Piano Teacher, Saint-Cyr (the King’s daughters). 2 weeks ago, i watched The Brontë Sisters, bizarre but great cast with Isabelle Adjani too.November 30, 2019 at 12:50 am #1203209079This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.November 30, 2019 at 12:51 am #1203209081
The ONE performance for which she was nominated for an Oscar!
