What are the Thoughts & Feelings that you cannot SHAKE OFF which may Occur & Happen on Feb. 22, 2015  ???

This is a “Freewheeling” discussion and not just limited to the Outcome & Results but also on the Show & Events that will take place on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015.

For me, despite not winning anything, I have this NAGGING thought-feeling that her numerous Associates-Supporters-Fans-Friends within The Academy will provide & give Meryl Streep a “SURPRISE 4th WIN” for Into The Woods.

I have a nagging feeling that people will complain the ceremony was boring, predictable, and a complete waste of their time. I just can’t shake it.

I have the same gut feeling, too!  I have a sneaky suspicion some people on these boards will say something along the lines of, “WORST. OSCARS. EVER.”  Or maybe even, “I’m turning my tv off.  I’ve given up.”

I presume the “lousy” TV spots & adverts-commercials promoting the Oscar show are building to this nagging thought-feeling.

I have a feeling that not many awards will be handed out, given just how many performers seem to be being announced. Is there time for any Oscars to actually be given?

I cant say I have any ‘nagging feelings’ about this particular Oscar circus. I’m a little worried about it’s ratings, seeing as how the majority of the curious audience probably have not seen most of the nominated films.

As for the hand wringing and bitching and moaning and complaining and the trashing of other contending films, but also the “YAY-ing” and applause and the glee post-mortem, please bring it on.

Lower Oscar Show Ratings was the initial or immediate reaction upon Nominations announcement last Jan 15.  But it was greatly eased up with the tremendous success of American Sniper over the weekend.

Now, if American Sniper underperform on Feb. 22, I could foresee some BACKLASH to The Academy.  I am uncertain though to its extent.

Etchie, I love it when you appear, sane.

I’m still worried for it’s ratings. But Oscar has survived backlash after backlash and it’s still among us. So, are you saying that I’ll/we’ll be watching the telecast with Sniper fans? Lol.

Acceptable benchmark could be The Hurt Locker Vs. Avatar.

As I often watch Fox News, I could just imagine how they would react if American Sniper gets a “raw” deal.

Admittedly, I deploy “Lucid Intervals” here as BAIT.

Lol! Well, I’m a fan of your “lucid Intervals”.

Btw Avatar remains one of my favorite films. Your analogy may be correct, but if Sniper makes close to three billion dollars, I’d check my maps to make sure there are still countries around.

I have a gut feeling this telecast will break 4 hours.

They will give out the awards during the commercial breaks and reveal the winners in a quick two minute montage.

For some reason I have a strange gut feeling that there won’t be clips shown of the nominated performances. The Oscars have been very good about this in recent years, but for some reason I don’t see it happening this year.

Sadly, I have the same feeling.  With all these performers announced it appears the show is being over-taken by musical numbers and performances.  I also get the feeling NPH may try to overshadow the nominees and winners with singing and dancing numbers.

It almost feels like the Oscars are becoming the 2015 Tony Awards, part 2 (or would it be part 1 since they have not actually aired yet)?  I was not a fan of NPH being announced as host and all my fears for why I did not like this choice appear to becoming true.

I really hope you’re wrong about this. Seeing the clips is one of my favourite parts of the show. One of my favourite examples was when they’ve had scenes from the screenplay contenders’ films with the text of the screenplay over it and being read out. I remember they did that in 2008, and a couple other times, but it seems to not be the case anymore.

I have always been a supporter of the NPH hosting choice, and I’m fine with him doing some sort of performance. Aside from that though, I could do without any musical performances. I will admit to loving when Shirley Bassey belted out Goldfinger, but otherwise the music has just felt flat to me. I think it’s the responsibility of the producers of the show to trim the fat, but these ones are just totally incapable of doing that.
