I’m predicting the split between Birdman (picture) and Boyhood (director).
Would love to see Whiplash and Grand Budapest Hotel take the screenplay awards and Laura Dern take Supporting Actress.February 17, 2015 at 4:59 pm #178704

Virunga for Documentary
Amen. And i’ll include Inherent Vice for Best Costume Design, Bradley Cooper for Best Actor, and a Birdman sweep that will set fires like never before.
I want the spoilt child in all these critics to emerge Sunday evening. Tantrums, and lots of them!February 18, 2015 at 12:50 am #178712
Virunga for Documentary is very possible I guess.
And my personal no guts no glory thinking would be: Birdman winning only Cinematography, while Boyhood, Budapest and Whiplash all get about 4 Oscars and become the biggest winners of the night.
I could see that happening, since Birdman isn’t really the lock in anything else except in Cinematography. And as we’ve learnt with American Hustle last year, if you’re not the frontrunner for most of the categories you’re in, you could lose every single one if it happens to be your unlucky night. Of course, the same goes for Boyhood and Whiplash. There really aren’t many locks this year.
Well, all the more reason to be looking forward to the big night — as long as American Sniper doesn’t win, anything else winning BP would please me.February 18, 2015 at 1:29 am #178713
The Theory of Everything wins Adapted Screenplay. I know it won Bafta, but most people expect The Imitation Game to win there. The Theory of Everything will win three Oscars in my opinion for Actor, Adapted Screenplay, and Score. And all will be incredibly deserving!
