Was The Impossible not Naomi Watts?
Lol what a typo. My runner up that year was Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook. Naomi Watts in The Impossible was my winner.

April 2, 2020 at 12:46 pm #1203406783Depending on my mood that day, I would almost say that Portman was the weakest link on the ballot, when she in fact has probably the baitiest role. Admittedly, my personal take on “Black Swan” can best be summed up by Macbeth: “the tale of an idiot told in sound and fury, signifying nothing.” But what really makes me stay off of Portman’s bandwagon is the irritating pitch at which she holds her performance for 75% of the running time, trying desperately to sell herself as a naive savant while her eyes practically radiate the subliminal message, “I’m smarter than this. I’m smarter than this.” I may be unduly harsh here, but while Portman is stuck in a wonderland nebula of more truly interesting characters, she has little to do but pop her eyes, pipe up in a childish treble, and work herself into a fragile frenzy. Ironically, it is only when Portman finally goes off the deep end and tosses the frightened little girl aside that I am able to relax as a viewer and finally sort-of enjoy the tawdry spectacle of “Black Swan,” for at last, Portman is at least in concert with her erratic vehicle. Portman does everything I suppose she’s supposed to do, but the final frenzy that comes anywhere close to justifying an Oscar nomination to me is simply a case of too little, too late.
This is spot on! This user needs to come back.
