She seemed to be pretty much out of the game yet has bounced back and is an Oscar front runner. Who else has seemed like their career was over but bounced back. Sixteen years in Renee’s case.

    I guess Brando would count.

There are others like Sally Field or Sissy Spacek who went decades between nominations but I wouldn’t really say they were ever out of the game. They were having success in other mediums or lower profile films.

Well she did voice the girl who fell in love with a bee and sounded drunk af all the time in the Bee movie. Of course she would destroy her career with that…

Nothing in Academy history pertaining to women is equivalent if she pulls off this hat trick.

I wish I could list Michael Keaton in Birdman as an example. Unfortunately, Oscar bait beat talent that year.

If Clemency gets its act together, Alfre Woodard…

I just love movies. And awards.

Hilary Swank starred almost solely in flops after her first win, but her second came a lot sooner than Zellweger’s

Love Zellweger, but it’s gonna be hard to beat Johansson this year.

What was Helen Hayes doing between her 2 Oscar wins? They’re like 30 something years apart.

Wasn’t Lee Grant blacklisted after her first nod? Then she came back with 3 more in the 70s. She won once and was again nominated the following year.

What if Joe Pesci ends up being considered for The Irishman?

    Sylvester Stallone
    Burt Reynolds
    Mickey Rourke
    & Eddie Murphy

Were all considered frontrunners at some point. But ultimately lost.

I guess Helen Hayes was doing a lot of theater. She was called the First Lady of the American Theater so I guess that kept her busy. She did a lot of TV too but I think that was mostly after the Airport Oscar made her the go to person for lovable old ladies.

Darlings, there’s no Botox Zellweger equivalent. Maybe John Travolta with Pulp Fiction… but not really.

I was your Prime Minister once.
