What are your 10/10 albums this decade so far? The term 10/10 is just an umbrella term with your interpretation.
For me it’s the albums that transformed my life. For the good and bad, I still fw these albums.

Aaargh, Wanda, always on the same page. I love it too! Have you listened to Shall We Go on Sinning So That Grace May Increase?, by The Soft Pink Truth? I think you might like it as well!

… Sour?February 14, 2022 at 7:08 am #1204801176I am not sure that I would consider any album released this decade a 10/10.
Of the albums listed above I think I would only put Fiona Apple and Floating Points + Pharaoh Sanders + The London Symphony Orchestra in the 9+ range. I might put Jessie Ware and The Weeknd close to a 9 but not quite there. Rosin Murphy and Arca are also both solid choice but both in the 8 range to me. To be fair there are a few albums above that I haven’t listened to so I can’t judge them. I did see Black Midis at Pitchfork and listened to their new album, and the band was fucking amazing but I just wanted the singer to stop singing the entire time. He added absolutely no value to the music whatsoever to me, he was just distracting from the other artists who were absolutely jamming out.
For albums not listed yet, I would put the Big Thief album close to a 9. I mostly listen to electronic music and most producers are not “album artists”, but the Leon Vynehall album is probably close to a 9. The Low album is probably close to a 9. Autechre is definitely 8+.

The closest, and probably a 9 for me, is Welcome to Conceptual Beach by Young Jesus. What an enlightening record. From Ants Up There might be another 9, perhaps. It certainly is extraordinary.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 16, 2022 at 9:01 pm #1204805933I don’t really believe in 10/10 anything. Fetch The Bolt Cutters, Superstar (Caroline Rose), Mas Amble, It Is What It Is, Ants From Up There, What’s Your Pleasure are probably what I’d consider the best of what I’ve heard in this decade.
2020 I thought was a pretty good year for music with a decent amount of depth and quality diversity (though I thought ‘Fetch’ was the only thoroughly, distinctly great album of that year). 2021 was a pretty big step down from that IMO. We’ll see how this year goes.
