At the end of this year, Billboard will release their Artist of the Decade list which is based on all-round commercial success.

    The frontrunners seem to be:
    – Adele
    – Drake
    – Rihanna
    – Taylor Swift

Other contenders who probably won’t get #1, but will most likely finish high up on the list:
    – Beyoncé
    – Bruno Mars
    – Ed Sheeran
    – Eminem
    – Justin Bieber
    – Katy Perry
    – Kendrick Lamar
    – Lady Gaga
    – Maroon 5
    – Nicki Minaj

It’s going to probably be Drake just because he consistently releases music that’s successful more often than the other contenders.

    My early ranking:

    1. Taylor Swift
    2. Drake
    3. Rihanna
    4. Adele
    5. Bruno Mars
    6. Justin Bieber
    7. Katy Perry
    8. Ed Sheeran
    8. Beyoncé
    9. Maroon 5
    10. Lady Gaga

The timing of Taylor’s, Rihanna’s & Adele’s album release this year will be crucial to their final position.

Maroon 5 won’t make it. His albums didn’t sell well.

I’m hoping Adele takes the N1 spot, but then of course Billboard will inflate streaming as usual, so Drake may get it.

I hope they don’t go by a stupid Hot100 formula. Beyoncé didn’t have a single #1 on her own this year. And yet she’s been the 2nd biggest female artist behind Adele.

I think albums commercial performance should weigh a lot more than singles.

I’m pretty sure album sales factor in more than singles otherwise eminem wouldn’t have won in the 2000s

I have heard that touring counts towards the overall score but can’t seem to confirm that anywhere, does anyone have the t on that

Adele deserves but she released 2 albums and less than 10 singles so I really doubt it

I think it’s between Taylor and Drake, but Taylor’s touring will push her passed him imo. Adele deserves it, but her limited releases kill her.

    1. Taylor Swift

    2. Drake

    3. Adele

    4. Rihanna

    5. Bruno Mars

    6. Justin Bieber

    7. Ed Sheeran

    8. Katy Perry

    9. Eminem

    10. Beyoncé

If they include tours in which they should, One Direction and Beyonce can definitely make it, despite limited amount of hits.

Factoring album + single sales, my ranking so far

    1. Taylor Swift

    2. Adele

    3. Rihanna

    4. Ed Sheeran

    5. Bruno Mars

    6. Justin Bieber

    7. Drake

    8. Katy Perry

Women ruled the early 2010s, men the latter half, putting Adele, Taylor in the top two since they had consistently massive album sales and single sales as well.

Adele’s biggest problem in this matter is that she only released two albums this decade (let’s see if she’ll drop another this year). But she really has the numbers, probably outsold most of the others combined.

21 numbers, imagine that added with 25 stats.
    Pure Sales: 30.000.000
    Equivalent Album Sales: 44.000.000
