Honey, didn’t you girls predict Chris Stapleton for an AOTY nom last year?

Pop Album is going to be so competitve this year.

Albums elegible this year by frontrunners/artists with hype (no particular order)
    1. reputation by Taylor Swift
    2. Beautiful Trauma by P!nk
    3. The Thrill of It All by Sam Smith
    4. Meaning of Life by Kelly Clarkson
    5. Man of The Woods by Justin Timberlake
    6. TBA by Ariana Grande
    7. Camila by Camila Cabello
    8. TBA by Christina Aguilera

It’s probably safe to count all of these OUT.

Get real! It’s NOT smart to count Justin Timberlake and Ariana Grande out just yet.

Thinking about it now, I just don’t see four albums released in 2017 making it into Pop Album. Taylor, Pink, and MAYBE Kelly are the only locks. Sam Smith’s album is already forgotten and there’s no way it’ll be remembered enough come November. I see Xtina (if she releases) and Ariana Grande filling those last two slots. This year will probably have 6 nominees anyway.

Sam’s album is definitely a downgrade from In The Lonely Hour, and it’s not really crtically acclaimed (72). I think he’ll ger nominated but he’s most definitely not a lock.

Kelly Clarkson is a lock for Pop Album, don’t come with ‘maybe’. She’s damn good, the album is good, and there is no doubt that the Grammys appreciate her very much. She got nominated for ‘Heartbeat Song’ which is her weakest single, a nom for a live performance and a nom last Grammy in a very crowded category.

We shouldn’t exclude anyone from Pop Vocal yet, or all of you were expecting Coldplay and Lana this year? Justin Timberlake and Ariana can enter, who knows if they’ll be able to produce a hit or even a nom just because their albums are good? Let’s wait.

I think 2018 is going to be a huge year for Ariana Grande. I bet she delivers.

I get Camila, but why is it safe to count out Xtina, who has been nominated (and won) in the Pop field plenty of times, Ariana, whose last 2 album got nominations, and Justin, who despite the negative criticism, is still a Grammy favorite for noms?

We have to wait to hear what Christina does, because lately she has released albums full of garbage with only 1 or 2 songs on them that are ok (the ballads usually which are mostly written by Sia). The grammys wont want to nominate Justin after that boring and shitty album, and Ariana of course has a chance to be nominated as she can represent the current generation. She wont win though.

Speaking of Sia, she could release before the eligibility period so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in Pop Vocal.

Honey, plenty of albums that are full of garbage have been nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album (Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kesha, etc.). Anything can happen in that category.
