Has Miguel made any of those lists? I haven’t clicked on everyone, but his albums and songs were always acclaimed during their releases.

Adorn is in the Pitchfork Songs list at #58

Uproxx’s 100 best songs of the 2010 https://uproxx.com/music/best-songs-of-the-2010s-ranked/ Surprise that Get Lucky is missing on the list. And again Adele is nowhere to be found

Lol I saw Havana at 71, OTR at 50, and then TUN at #5 (way overrated), I thought the list was bad…. but then! It ended with Hotline Bling is at #1? I guess it suddenly all made sense. What a joke of a list.

finally have time to give a close reading to these lists, the fact that pitchfork singled out “stay stay stay” from red just made my day exponentially better, although they could just be ripping off christgau since he singled out the same two songs in his review, but anyway

it was 3rd in rolling stone’s year-end list and 2nd in pitchfork’s, weird choice for best of the decade but it’s not out of nowhere

Adele is the new Celine, Mariah and Whitney. Loved by the Grammys and Billboard, but the critics rarely fawn over them outside of a few songs. Most critics will choose Madonna and Janet over the ballad girls

Interestingly enough Beyoncé is top tier in both

I wonder why critics like that song so much. It’s so… basic.

Same Uproxx made a terrible horrible list of best hip-hop albums of 2010’s

Beyoncé, Kendrick, Kanye, and Lana getting these repeated top placements aren’t surprising (they had some of the most acclaimed work of their respective years). Ariana is getting recency bias but critics have always liked her opposed to what GD spews.

But some of these lists are written by ill-informed people. Why the fuck is 4 considered a pop album? It deserves these high placements, of course, but baby come the fuck on. Hotline Bling is the best song of the decade? Lmfaooooo

They put Lizzo in #4, 2 Chainz appears 2 times, Drake at #1, Young Thug at #2 LOL

True because Kendrick, Frank Ocean, Kanye and Beyonce are critical darlings, especially Kendrick. Hotline Bling at the other hand, shit is mediocre. I saw Drake’s better songs like Pound Cake and Take Care.
