Meanwhile acclaimedmusic have not updated their website since 2018 possibly they are waiting until the decade ends before making huge update.

Acclaimed Music have started their decade lists here:

    Top Albums of the 2010s
    Top Songs of the 2010s

This is very early days for the decade lists, including just 3-4 lists that are considered significant so far. Must admit I’ve never heard of one of those review sites before. Might be best to check back when there are 15-20 lists before making any conclusions.

You can also see the Acclaimed Music 2018 Year End lists here:

    Top Albums of 2018
    Top Songs of 2018

Top of their 2018 album list was Janelle Monae for Dirty Computer. This is the same #1 as albumoftheyear.org who had Janelle ahead of Mitski. On Metacritic they had Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves as their 2018 year end best album.

From my understanding they might use a combination of review scores from the time of the album release, plus year end lists and decade list to make their main overall acclaimed music lists for each year/decade/all-time.

I thought consequence of sound was gonna give a genuinely interesting list when I saw some of the inevitable “consensus picks” in the lower tier, then teenage dream (which they initially assigned a C+ by the way) and joanne show up and it just turns into a big fat joke from that point

stereogum’s list is a good blend of “pitchfork picks” and fundamentalist/”rockist” picks, might be my favorite thus far

AOTY : 2010s Music Decade List Aggregate
    https://www.albumoftheyear.org/list/summary/2010s/

Kendrick leading and while it’s very early (less than 10 lists counted so far), I’m predicting ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ to end up #1, but also expecting a lot of changes in the order as more lists come in.

Points system used is as follows:

    1st Place: 10 points
    2nd Place: 8 points
    3rd place: 6 points
    Top 10: 5 points
    Top 25: 3 points
    Other: 1 point

Their aggregate is better than Metacritic’s one for sure but still they give too much credit to the high ranked albums. Poor albums that make it into many lists yet barely accumulated little points because of their low ranks

In some respects the Metacritic page is quite good, You get the Highest-Scoring albums and the Best of 2010s Decade Top Ten Lists in one page.

    https://www.metacritic.com/feature/best-albums-of-the-decade-2010s

The scoring system could be better:

    * 3 points for each 1st place ranking
    * 2 points for each 2nd place ranking
    * 1 point for being ranked 3rd – 10th, or for being included on an unranked list of 10 or fewer albums
    * 0.5 points for being included on an unranked list of 11-20 albums
    * No points for albums included on unranked lists of more than 20 albums (or for albums ranked worse than 20th)

Allocating 3 points for 1st, vs 1 point for 3rd – 10th isn’t the problem. High ranked albums should be worth more. The problem is when they give no points to albums outside the Top 10 or Top 20, which might be o.k. in a Year End list, but it doesn’t work in a decade list. There are clearly going be more than 20 great albums in a decade.

    Some new lists.

I am quite surprised at Born To Die being the Lana album named the most among Decade Best, at least NFR! is also being included.

And it is INSULTING how barely any list includes Vulnicura, how is that album not being praised to the heavens?

Kendrick has consistently put out some of the best albums of the decade, so his rankings for the decade are apt.

Almost every publication I’ve seen has included Vulnicura. Even one of them included Utopia i think as well.

I am as well, when BTD first came out critics were destroying it, maybe they came to their senses 7 years later?
It was also incredibly influential looking back now, Lana walked so that Lorde and Billie could run.

Y’all should not have made the decade list when we are still in the decade. Pitchfork shunned FKA twigs for MAGDALENE.

Kendrick is definitely best artist of the decade.
