Hi all, I’ll soon be starting to put together Grammy predictions for Album of the Year. Here’s the preliminary list of contenders I’ve come up with. Since there are 8 nominees now I want to cast a pretty wide net (to catch any Brandi Carliles or H.E.R.s where I can) but obviously can’t include every possible release. These are listed alphabetically by album title. Any glaring omissions? Anything here that I’ve mistakenly listed that’s actually ineligible?

    “Can’t Say I Ain’t Country” — Florida Georgia Line
    “Caution” — Mariah Carey
“Center Point Road” — Thomas Rhett

“Heard It in a Past Life”: Maggie Rogers

She needs to be on every single radar imaginable moving forward.

They usually nominate at least one veteran artist for AOTY each year (e.g Jay Z in 2018 and Brandi Carlile this year). I think Caution (Mariah Carey) might be a dark horse in this race, though unlikely. She’ll probably end up getting nominated in the R&B Categories nonetheless. I know the Grammy’s credibility has been called into question for many years, and Mariah was notoriously snubbed both in 1996 and 2006, so this could also be a good move PR wise (Mariah still tends to generate a lot of press buzz when it comes to award shows – just look at the coverage surrounding her Icon Award this year at the BBMAs).

TUN and WWAFAWDWG are guaranteed nominations – TUN is the expected sales and critical smash and WWAFAWDWG is the unexpected critical and commercial smash. I don’t know if they stand a chance at winning though.

the safest bet to get Album Of The Year is A Star Is Born

had good acceptance of criticism and public besides being the album sold more of the  deadline

Lady Gaga is a strong, respected name and is late in GF.

That list probably covers most of the bases. Here are a few others you could add:

Assume Form – James Blake [previous Best New Artist nominee; just won a Grammy; 80 on Metacritic]
Doom Days – Bastille [previous Best New Artist nominees; #2 Hot 100 hit this year with “Happier”]
Legacy! Legacy! – Jamila Woods [90 on Metacritic]
Walk Through Fire – Yola [84 on Metacritic; nominated for Album & Emerging Act of the Year at the Americana Awards]

Can you please put Ariana on top since she’s the most likely nominee it’s too far down in your list and I think people will have to scroll down to find her

His list on this thread is alphabetical. Once it’s in the Prediction center, it’ll be based on odds, and she’ll probably be visible enough there.
