I’m not pressed at rappers doing so well (most deservingly so) but the Juice WRLD album bomb is a joke. Most of those songs either won’t be charting or will drop down significantly out of the top 40 next week.

I don’t think it’s Billboard’s fault, as streaming is the main source of consumption, but it just goes to show the negative side of it. In no way was that Juice Wrld x Marshmello song a bigger song this week than something like Watermelon Sugar or What’s Poppin.

    FYC - Lil Nas X
MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) - ROTY, SOTY, Best Pop Solo Perf., Best Music Video
INDUSTRY BABY - Best Melodic Rap Perf., Best Rap Song
MONTERO - AOTY, Best Pop Vocal Album

The fact that Watermelon Sugar got dropped out of the top ten for these crap album tracks is a damn joke.

I for one am exited to see Juice Wrld doing so well on the charts. He was a super talented artist that never got the respect he deserved in life, so hopefully he’ll earn it after death. These posthumous albums still creep me out a little bit, but I’ll accept it in this case because Juice Wrld deserves the recognition.

Also, for those who are pressed about so many of Juice Wrld’s songs on the charts, this has been happening for a while. It’s just the way albums that debut on streaming work: people are super exited to hear the new songs, then aside from a few hits with staying power they all fall off. It’s not fraud at all. And it’s not just rappers either: Lover and Hollywood’s Bleeding had all of their songs chart on the Hot 100 at launch and flooded the charts too (of course Taylor and Post are also sales juggernauts).

He has the number one streaming song and the number two sales song, but that is not bigger than two songs that are top ten in neither?

Some people here just want to see Harry dominate. He’s doing well guys, no need to be pressed.

But that’s the thing, iTunes is basically irrelevant recently and streaming is easily skewed towards one specific genre. Again, it’s not that it’s fraudulent, it’s just that getting hit songs nowadays it’s seemingly less significant than 7 or 10 years ago.

no sweetie this years charts are a fucking embarrassment. That many shitty songs by a sole artists just proves why billboard needs to fix their shit when it comes to streaming.

a majority of music is consumed through streaming. hell people aren’t going to buy records or listen to the radio when they can play a song easily with a click of button. finally, the consumer isn’t resulted on whatever is played on the radio.

    RIP SOPHIE

Airplay, which is not even a measurement, is skewed to pop, but you are where are you whining about that? Streaming is the only reason why the industry is even growing since it generates a ton of revenue. The components that actually have numbers and generate revenue are the most important. Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Post Malone perform great with streaming, so that is not anyone else’s problem that people are not streaming pop artists who are not those people.

Airplay is NOT skewed towards pop, but go off.

Come And Go’s still in the top 10, which is better than any song from Gaslighter, LOL! That album really underperformed. I feel silly predicting it now. Dixie Chicks probably aren’t getting any GF noms.
