Honey, “Rain On Me” will NOT be the song of the summer nor will it have longevity. It’ll be completely forgotten by August 31st.

I don’t think we heard the Song of the Summer yet. Unless Ariana / Gaga can continue to push it with promo over the summer, Rain on Me just won’t keep the buzz up. The core fans will over listen to it and move onto other songs. Ariana doesn’t do a lot of promo either. ROCKSTAR has potential to linger around the top and win by default of nothing else coming out. I am betting either we get a Rihanna or Adele song that are juggernauts or another TikTok / viral song like Say So or Savage were this spring. In Your Eyes, Break My Heart, Before You Go, Intentions, Watermelon Sugar, Blueberry Faygo, Roses all could hover around the top 20 for weeks, but they all feel a little stale. So, it’s likely a new song or ROCKSTAR pulls a “The Box” style lead.

    This Week’s Billboard Hot 100:

    1. DaBaby ft. Roddy Ricch, ROCKSTAR
    2. Megan Thee Stallion ft. Beyonce, Savage (Remix)

    4. Doja Cat, Say So
    5. Lada Gaga and Ariana Grande, Rain on Me
    6. Drake, Toosie Slide
    7. Dua Lipa, Don’t Start Now
    8. Justin Bieber ft. Quavo, Intentions
    9. Roddy Ricch, The Box
    10. SAINt JHN, Roses

Roses’ streaming numbers really pushed it far this week.

I’m very happy to see ROCKSTAR hit number 1! I expect it there for a while until another big song drops or a viral song grows.

ROM won’t repeak. It fell HARD on sales this week (somehow Billboard has it at #11 on sales, even though it was top 3 the entire week on iTunes), and with streaming falling too, a fast radio gain won’t be enough to make it hit #1 later on.

However, it doesn’t need to repeak. A #1 debut is more than anyone would’ve thought a month ago when Stupid Love flat out bombed.

The Roses success is weird because the Imanbek remix is HUGE in the UK, but the original is getting huge here (which I’m glad about because the original version is infinitely better than the remix).

    Don’t rush to conclusions.

“Rain on Me is listed as having 6,000 sales on Digital Songs, but the actual sales counting towards the Hot 100 are considerably higher (somewhere around 20,000). Album drops that benefit from a lot of digital album sales (as opposed to streams) have this happen.

It’s referred to as the Complete My Album effect, CMA for short. When you buy an album after buying a single, you’re essentially treating the single purchase as an early purchase of part of the album, as you get an equivalent discount.”

How can you love Roses while hate Dance Monkey. Roses (Remix) which is the most popular version by far sounds very similar to Dance Monkey in terms of singing and production.
