and the good sis Ariana whom in her biggest era managed to get overshadowed by Drake at the BBMAs, Taylor at the AMAs and VMAs, everyone at the EMAs and now Billie at the GrammysJanuary 27, 2020 at 3:00 pm #1203315237There weren’t any.
Exactly.
Yola losing all of her genre nominations.
I don’t exactly agree. I mean, I had her tied with Sara for AR performance and I’m with Her first for AR song. For Americana, I actually had Calexico & Iron & Wine but Keb Mo won eventually.
Where I feel Yola might fare better is in blues. She has a more blues-type aesthetic and voice.
I’m kind of shocked Sara won given her song was kinda pop, but I honestly don’t mind. She has a friggin Grammy now!
Oh and most of Nigeria considered Burna Boy’s loss a snub. We were well aware he wasn’t the best but we thought they’d at least honor his efforts instead of someone who’d won it twice before. Happy for her though. Great release.

First of all, Lana’s a pop artist, not alternative. When you think alternative, think more Björk and Bon Iver.
That said, I do agree Lana’s album was better, but, for me, it was only by a small margin. I do not mind Billie’s sweep AT ALL. She’s the second to do this all in one night.
Imo, Lana’s category (pop) is too competitive. That’s why she’s missed wins and nods all the while. But, her compositions (SOTY-potential material) are unique, so I’d say she forge on in that standout songwriting light.

Arianators, get over it! Your precious Ariana Grande was NOT worthy of any of those five Grammy noms. Thank your lucky stars she lucked her way into a Grammy win last year. From now on, don’t be delusional!
I wanted Lucky Daye to win Best R&B Song, but I knew he was going home empty-handed.

The R&B song nominees weren’t all that tbh. I’m surprised they gave performance to Anderson .Paak though but I’m happy about that.
It irks me that Bonobo lost yet again in Dance Recording. “Got to Keep On” is okay though.

I never saw that song winning anything. It was a lazy performance and a typical song (in terms of songwriting).

I can give AR song to Sara but Yola losing AR performance and album is a crime.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 27, 2020 at 6:36 pm #1203315621HER is pulling stunts to get these nominations. I heard she’s on the committee.
