Gangnam Style was considerably more popular and didn’t get nominated.

Even if it gets slotted in pop (rap seems more likely), I don’t see it getting the nomination. I don’t think enough voters will actually take it seriously enough to recognize it as one of the best songs of the year.

If Billboard removed it from country charts, I doubt they’d allow it in rap category.

What is the logic here lol

I hope Ava Max submits her self into the BNA category the following year (2021) not 2020. Billie Eilish is kind of a lock/frontrunner for the BNA this year and if Ava waited one more year she would win. Just like how Meghan Trainor, Alessia Cara & Dua Lipa did once their names became more mainstream over the years. Just Sayin, If artists are going to release material by the last month of submission they should wait until the following month once the deadline is over just in case their material begins to build momentum the following year. Camila Cabello and Dua Lipa did the mistake of Submitting “Havana” and “New Rules” into the 2018 ceremony when they should have waited a month to release their projects to submit it into the 2019 ceremony. I think that’s what Taylor Swift is doing, I’m sure she’ll release her album by the following month once the Grammy deadline is over so her album would be eligible for the 2021 ceremony. Smart. If you notice, Most of the AOTY nominees these past years have been released sometime in between Late Oct- Early April. Very rarely in May or in the summer.

I feel like OTR feels bigger than most (if not all) viral hits we’ve had so far. I don’t have it in Record but I do think it can get into Pop since that’s based on popular vote. Pop Solo Performance 1. thank u, next by Ariana Grande 2. Without Me by Halsey 3. bad guy by Billie Eilish 4. If I Can’t Have You by Shawn Mendes 5. Walk Me Home by P!nk Pop Duo/Group Performance 1. Sucker by Jonas Brothers 2. Sunflower by Post Malone & Swae Lee 3. Dancing with a Stranger by Sam Smith & Normani 4. ME! by Taylor Swift featuring Brendon Urie 5. Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus 6. Con Calma by Daddy Yankee, Katy Perry, Snow

You’re taking Gaga too early if she’s had an nominated with Joanne.  INLA and ARUTW can be nominated for Pop Duo and Solo.

Here’s the thing… “Old Town Road” ain’t even a bad song TBH. And it’s a major crossover hit that will attract votes from pop, country, and rap… It wouldn’t be the worst ROTY nominee by a long shot.

Right now, I see 5 frontrunners for a ROTY nomination:

    “Bad Guy”- Billie Eilish
“Old Town Road”- Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus
    “Sucker”- The Jonas Brothers
“Sunflower”- Post Malone & Swae Lee
    “Thank u, Next”- Ariana Grande

Then it gets very hard to predict!

I can see ROTY being the only nomination “Old Town Road” gets. Neither the pop field nor the rap field has to nominate it (country won’t touch it, tbh), but it could be a panel pick in the general field.

Any of these winners would be an AWFUL winner

In this crappy year, I could totally see Sam Smith winning both RoTY and SoTY again with “Dancing With A Stranger”… Literally the only TOP10 song that I could see appealing to the voters in the GF this year.

Also, I have a feeling Beyoncé might get a RoTY nomination with literally anything from that soundtrack. This year is so crappy that anything is possible.

Don’t forget he has another single coming produced by Ryan Tedder, if that becomes a hit too, than he might snatch Pop Solo too, Sam is coming back like a dark horse!!!

    I will always love you

You guys have to stop with “this year is sooo crappy”. I am sorry I used to say the same thing, but just because all your favorites didn’t release major songs doesn’t mean there aren’t someone else doing the exact same thing on the charts, in critical and commercial success, in cult followings. Stop complaining it’s not cute!
