You are acting like Thank U, Next is as big as Fearless, 21, 1989, 25 or even Divide which got snubbed or Scorpion that lost last year. It´s not that big of an event, the album couldn´t get another successful single after the release. If any pop artist is winning, then it´s Gaga. Probably some random indie artist that we haven´t think of will win anyway.

Neither Ariana or Gaga are taking this one. Unless Gaga drops something big before the eligibility period is up she is not taking it not even with ASIB

Actually if ASIB gets nominated it’s the natural frontrunner. Its hurdle is the nomination, not the win.

Being released right after the last deadline ended could hurt its nomination chances. Many Grammy-friendly albums have come out since then, so as Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next and Billie Ellish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Ariana and Billie are guaranteed AOTY nominations. Thank U, Next was a commercial smash (and IMO one of the best pop albums of 2019) and Billie’s album was critically acclaimed. I think Vampire Weekend are guaranteed a nomination because they fit within the white indie rock/country voter category.

The other two/ three nominations are up in the air. I’m hoping Mariah’s status as a veteran helps her snag an AOTY nomination, though it really isn’t necessary if she’s nominated across the R&B Categories. It would be nice though since the awards would coincide with her 30th year in the music industry and it’s a miracle she’s still alive and actively making music, despite her mental health / professional struggles.

Metacritic is a good indicator since it provides stats on critical acclaim and how discussed an album is. Grammy Committees tend to pick the albums that have a balance of critical acclaim, commercial sales and public discussion.

Record and Song of the Year are obviously going to the #1 smash hit, “Heatstroke” by Calvin Harris featuring Grammy winners Pharell Williams, Young Thug, and Ms Ponytail Grande.

That song wouldn’t have done that well if it weren’t for it being released as a single the same night the album dropped PLUS it had a MV attached to it.

And it’s still hanging on within the top 20 going on four months after it’s release. Let’s not act like it just came and went. It’s also doing really well at radio.

I’m a huge Mariah fan, but the Grammys haven’t been very friendly to her in the past. Caution is technically one of the best reviewed R&B albums of the eligibility period (and one of the biggest sellers in terms of physical copies) and deserves some nominations… but honestly… I could see them snubbing the project entirely. It could go either way. I hope I’m wrong. There hasn’t been too many strong R&B projects released this year, so we’ll see what happens. I think it helps her case that she’s been touring for the project.

Yeah that’s why I’m a bit hesitant on AOTY. On paper, Caution ticks all the boxes for a nomination, but the Grammys have always been shady to Mariah. The fact that she’s released an album like Caution 30 years into her career is an achievement in itself and proves that she’s still the Queen of R&B. Grammy nominations, at this stage, are just window dressing – amazing, but not necessary!

WBK!!! Although there could be some competition from the ICONIC “Taki Taki” by DJ Snake featuring porn star Ozuna, Grammy winner/ rapist/ stripper Cardi B, and the one and only LEGENDARY whisper pop singer Selala Gomez!!!!!

Break up it’s not a hit but neither a flop

It was regular on charts but it’s impact was kind killed because of 7R power

It’s so bizarre seeing some of you afirm that ASIB is pretty dead when both the ST and shallow still rocking on charts and midia while Gaga is having one of the greatest years of her carrer

It’s mind-boggling. The album just left the top 20 of the Billboard 200 after 31 weeks. “Shallow” is still top 20 on the Hot 100 after 32 weeks.

It’s one thing to think ASIB won’t be nominated for AOTY because it’s a soundtrack, or because it was released in October, or because its lone hit was already nominated (and won) this year, but to say that it won’t be nominated because it’s “forgotten” is extremely inaccurate.
