Cardi B’s “Press” Music Video is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while.

Many good videos this year. If I were a voter I’d pick these:

    1. Sam Fender – Play God (this is the best video this year imo)

    2. Ed Sheeran – Cross Me (arguably his best music video to date)

    3. Cardi B – Press

    4. Gary Clark Jr – This Land

    5. Madonna – Dark Ballet (not a fan, but I think she needs to be recognized for the effort she puts in her music videos)

I feel like Nightmare by Halsey would deserve a spot there in Best Music Video

Santana, Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen, P!nk, and the Jonas Brothers absolutely do not have a better chance of getting in than Khalid or Solange, and I think Solange’s chances have been hugely overrated on here.

I don’t think Solange is happening in AoTY. I think Lizzo will represent Contemporary Urban/R&B in AoTY.

Also not sure where “This Land” will fit, but if he’s submitted to R&B (?) he’ll definitely have a much higher chance than Solange. It sounds Rock, but not sure his label will submit it there? Maybe UC?

Um… what? Very obviously Rock Album.

The R&B field is not a catch-all for all black artists who don’t rap.

If it gets placed anywhere else, it would be in Contemporary Blues Album, not Urban Contemporary Album. 💀

Tomorrow is being released a song for “Charlie’s Angels” movie with Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Lana del Rey. Probably will be a contender for Best Pop Duo/Gruop Perfomance.

Ariana is also going to be collaborating with Chaka  Khan on the Charlies Angels soundtrack as well, but im still doubting it will come out before the Grammy submissions close

When are they releasing the song? The movie does not arrive until the middle of November. It would be very unusual if the song was released before mid-to-late October which would put it after the current eligibility period.

I would wait to hear it first. This isn’t the first time we hear about a big collaboration. In fact, most of big-names hyped collaborations end up being underwhelming.

Looks really cool. But it’s also too “action” to be a contender in movie awards season imo. It’ll probably hurt the song chances for a nomination at the Globes or the Oscars.

I feel Lana Del Rey definitely deserves an Oscar. Her music is so theatrical. Maybe she should try it again with a song on her own.

Too “action”? I mean Skyfall, Spectre, and Black Panther say hello. Both the song and the movie have to perform well if it’s gonna be gunning for the next awards season.

The only action movie to do well among those you named is Black Panther. And that’s because it’s an exceptional phenomenon. Yes, anyone who follows the Oscars knows that action movies tend to underperform. So CA will likely be a non-factor in the awards season.

As baity as “See U Again” was (#1 for 14 weeks) it still missed out for example, mainly because of the movie it’s from. So I wish Lana did a song for something different and more artsy to have a decent chance at a Golden Globe or an Oscar.

The Oscars tend to limit themselves to only one or two big hits. We’ll have to hear the song to know first.

The movie itself (outside of the soundtrack) won’t get any love most likely; action blockbusters are not Oscar-friendly. Maybe Visual Effects.
