I haven’t seen any good artsy music videos this year aside from Sam Fender’s Play God and Halsey’s Nightmare.
I wonder what they’ll go with. I also liked Cardi B’s Press video though.July 19, 2019 at 7:37 pm #1202985951
Anyway, if I had to predict MV category as of now:
Billie Eillish – Bury A Friend (she should NOT submit Bad Guy)
Sam Fender – Play God
Halsey – Nightmare
Gary Clark Jr. – This Land
and probably Beyoncé? because they love her even though Spirit MV isn’t great
And Billie is SO winning this if she submits Bury A FriendJuly 19, 2019 at 7:43 pm #1202985962
Those video categories in the Grammys suck. They are completely rigged. They’ll obviously nominate the mainstream video they want to win(whatever that is) and the rest will be unknown (and probably superior) videos the voters won’t even watch, as usual. They SHOULD nominate Press for Music Video. It’s the only video I’ve seen this year that impressed me for being really good and ambitious. They probably won’t because it’s not a big hit and the “mainstream quota” will be filled by bigger hits and/or Grammy darlings.
The Music Film category is even worse: they mostly only nominate and award documentaries about dead musicians or music legends, so they should have two categories for that, one for concerts/documentaries and other for real motion pictures like Lemonade and Dirty Computer.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJuly 19, 2019 at 7:45 pm #1202985966

You’re really snubbing FKA Twigs?July 19, 2019 at 7:45 pm #1202985968
I think they tend to award a video that’s mainstream but still has an artsy touch, like Formation, This Is America.
So I’m thinking Billie has this in the bag this year.
I like Cardi B’s Press, but its over violent nature may turn off some voters. I hope not though.July 19, 2019 at 7:46 pm #1202985970

With an astounding 91 MC score, My First Album by Peppa Pig becomes the best reviewed album of the year (tied with Titanic Rising). It’s predicted to debut atop of the Billboard 200 with sales nearing 1.7M, becoming the best selling first week since Adele’s 25. `
That’s a great joke.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJuly 19, 2019 at 7:48 pm #1202985975
I know that Nightmare isn’t Halsey’s biggest hit, but I think we can all agree that the video is amazing. It gives me Humble vibes for some reason.July 19, 2019 at 7:48 pm #1202985977

Everyone here literally says every Beyoncé album will get in AOTY. Everything Is Love was the most predicted album last year and didn’t get nominated. Everyone was saying Homecoming was getting in until this new album was announced. I didn’t have to be here in 2011 to know that 4 was heavily predicted.
Beyoncé is not an automatic name-check, and it’s probably wise if people maybe wait a few weeks to see if The Gift has legs before rushing to predict a brand new album to get in AOTY, let alone be a frontrunner to win.
I totally agree, but I also think that The Gift surely has more appeal than Everything is Love, that’s something to consider.July 19, 2019 at 8:15 pm #1202985997
