Billie. If not her, then either Vampire Weekend or Bon Iver.November 20, 2019 at 5:19 pm #1203193667
Why does Lana have this many votes? She’s not winning. It’s either Billie or Bon Iver. Meh.November 20, 2019 at 5:37 pm #1203193703
Gretchen, stop trying to make Lana del Rey happen. It’s not going to happen.November 20, 2019 at 7:29 pm #1203193839
i really want Lana to win it, but i’m thinking she will split votes with Father of the Bride and Bon Iver
7 and HER album are just fillers
so i guess this is between Ariana, Billie and LizzoNovember 20, 2019 at 8:57 pm #1203193968
Billie is the only one nominated for Engineered Album and her brother is up for Producer of the Year, so that makes her the frontrunner.
The only one that’s a lock for a genre album win is Lizzo, and if she overperforms Grammy night, she could take this one as well.November 20, 2019 at 9:06 pm #1203193983
Lana!November 20, 2019 at 9:11 pm #1203194004
I think Billie is the frontrunner, but it is a category in which may be a lot of disperse votes. Ariana, Lizzo, Lana…
This will create a perfect scenario for a shocking win of Vampire Weekend, or, most likely, Bon Iver. They like Justin Vernon, and they nominated Hey Ma, an unknown song, in ROTY. They’re my runner up now.November 20, 2019 at 9:59 pm #1203194089
You can get a win for sales/charts performance or with an acclaimed album.
Typical acclaimed album AOTY winner has most of the following.
safe album also nominated in own genre
Bonus points for previous genre or general field winner
Bonus points for long history of acclaimed albums and/or veteran artist
Beck had pretty much all of the above, while Arcade Fire had most (technically Canadian, but front man Will Butler was a US Citizen born in California).
Kacey Musgraves, a former Best Country Album and Song winner also matched that list quite well and her album was nominated for and won her genre category again. Being female probably didn’t hurt her chances in the #MeToo grammys of 2019, when they were recovering from the “Need to Step Up” grammys of 2018.
Looking at the current nominees, former grammy winners Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver appear to be the best match. I’m picking Vampire Weekend right now.November 20, 2019 at 10:26 pm #1203194110

There’s no correlation though. In the last 10 years, only 3 of the 10 winners were nominated in Engineered Album.
Also Jack Antanoff is also nominated for NFR!November 20, 2019 at 11:15 pm #1203194164
It’s Lizzo. Most nominations, her nominations span different categories, critical darling and fan favorite, a chance to award an African-American body-positive female. 2019 was her year. Mark my word.
Slight chance that Billie takes it, but she seems too alternative and off-beat for Grammy voters. See her having more success in the pop categories.
And slight, slight chance that Vampire or Ariana surprise. But highly doubtful.
It’s Lizzo.November 20, 2019 at 11:33 pm #1203194187
I really think Ariana will take this years album of the year. I think she will be this years Bruno Mars. TUN was a winter album and some of the ballads on the album like needy and imagine were so melancholic and soothing to listen to. I just picture myself being some where cold and desolate near a fireplace with the music playing lol.November 21, 2019 at 12:11 am #1203194241
I think Billie is taking this, with Vampire Weekend being second in line.
