In regards to a post from the previous thread… – Khalid’s Free Spirit will be submitted to Best Urban Contemporary Album instead of Best Pop Vocal Album. – “Me!” is NOT happening at all.

Taylor Swift is NOT happening outside of Best Pop Vocal Album!

Is it really that big of a year for Pop Duo/Group? I struggled to even come up with 5

I know you guys have somewhat negative opinions towards Shawn Mendes, but I think He has really good chances at getting both Pop Solo and Pop Duo noms this year,

Shawn Mendes has two songs in the Hot 100’s top 10 simultaneously for the first time in his career (Señorita & If I Can’t Have You).

I am a little surprised at the potential for more success that these songs are showing. He has had successful singles before but before these two, In my blood had only peaked just outside the top 10, after a lot of promotion for it.

    Billboard Hot 100: #10(+3) If I Can’t Have You, @ShawnMendes
    [12 weeks]. *peak: #2*

    Billboard Hot 100: #3(+1) Señorita, @ShawnMendes
    & @Camila_Cabello
    [5 weeks]. *peak: #2*

I think Shawn will get a nomination or two.

I also think Sam Smith/Normani will be nominated in Pop Duo/Group.

I would be very disappointed in a Dancing with a Stranger snub. Also a little surprised. I would figure that if songs by Christina/Demi, Justin/Chris, and the Backstreet Boys could get in at the last awards. Dancing with a Stranger would too.

I’m expecting Shawn to get in Pop Duo/Group Performance and possibly Pop Solo Performance. Not the general field, although “Señorita” is a long-shot contender for ROTY.

Shawn Mendes could certainly sneak into that 4th or 5th slot in Pop Solo over the likes of Halsey and/or Lewis Capaldi.

Pop Duo/Group is already really crowded:

“Dancing With a Stranger”- Sam Smith & Normani
“I Don’t Care”- Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber
“I’ll Never Love Again”- Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
“Old Town Road”- Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus
“Señorita”- Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello
    “Sucker”- Jonas Brothers
“Sunflower”- Post Malone & Swae Lee

The fate of “I Don’t Care” and “Señorita” could be decided based on their longevity, and “Old Town Road” based on where it’s submitted. Lady Gaga is far from a lock here but of those 7, I think “I’ll Never Love Again” or “Old Time Road” would be the frontrunner to win upon getting nominated.

Shawn is easily getting into pop solo, and likely getting into pop/duo.

I see Hey Look Ma potentially being snubbed if anything. Me! and OTR never had much of a chance. Sucker, DWAS, and Sunflower feel guaranteed.

Is I’ll Never Love Again definitely getting submitted to Duo/Group instead of putting the solo version in Pop Solo?
