I really hope there are some surprises in the Pop categories

Same. I think there will be some, considering what they pulled last year in Pop Solo but I think this year will be all #1 hits.

I have a feeling one of the #1s will miss. I’m just not sure which that’s why I’m sticking with it for now.

I’d be surprised if the nominations end up being that predictable in pop.

I changed my Pop Solo predictions. I don’t think Lewis Capaldi will get in.

    7 Rings – Ariana Grande
    Bad Guy – Billie Eilish
    Truth Hurts – Lizzo
If I Can’t Have You – Shawn Mendes
    Better – Khalid
    Without Me – Halsey

    7 rings

    truth hurts

    bad guy

    SYL

I think the last spot will be between Halsey shawn and khalid… Halsey obviously has the edge with her number 1 but at the same time halsey vocals are so cringe and it’s hard to take that seriously (and the academy never has before)… khalid had a big year with nominations a couple years back and Shawn getting a general field nom with a non hit. It could go either way. But then you also have Gaga, IMO ASIB is over but i wouldn’t bet my life…

Let’s be real, Shawn might manage to seduce voters into letting him in Pop Duo/GP and RoTY with Senorita because his vocal delivery is actually good there, but “If I Can’t Have You” ain’t happening. Not only it’s generic but it’s not that big of a hit either. It’s a radio-fueled generic song.

Shawns vocals in senorita were just breathy (which is different for him but that tenchnique is the MOST generic type of pop vocals that everyone who can’t sing turns to) I mean he sounded great but I find his vocals on the other song more interesting as well as a more interesting pop tune but to each their own

That’s weird. I don’t think it’ll ever happen. Pop Solo is pretty much just popular songs and probably isn’t hard to vote for. Last time was the weirdest lineup they ever had. Beck , Post , and Gaga . Ariana and Camila were obvious ones.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Shawn Mendes gets a surprise nomination in the GF and now were pretending he’s not a generic, guitar wielding, contemporary pop, Ed Sheeran lesser. And that he’s somewhat competitive to land in Pop Solo? Lol. It’s not happening.</p>

Bold prediction: Grande misses out on Pop Solo nom with “7 Rings” and only received Pop Vocal Album nom (in the Pop field that is).
