Really don’t see them nominating Springsteen or Beyoncé. And I don’t think Beyoncé would be a threat to win if she miraculously got nominated.

I’m starting to think Ariana might submit either “7 rings” or “thank u, next” in the Pop Solo category and “imagine” to the R&B category. “imagine” does have an R&B vibe to it and it’s not strange for a typically pop artist to show up in the R&B field.

Ion think she’ll make it to R&B field and 7 rings is too weak , TUN is more original and better

Yes, the previous thread is over

In the future, the “newest comment” link stops working at around 1,000 posts, so 900+ is a better cutting off point. Unless a moderator makes a new thread first.

UN-SNUBSTANTIATED: Will this year’s nominating committee help the TV team by putting some of the previously snubbed mass-appeal artists—Taylor, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé—back in the game? Might there even be a special award for Justin Timberlake that could entice him back to the Grammy stage after his multi-year boycott?

Those snubbed stars (the ones who’ve dropped music within the eligibility period, at least) still won’t appear on the Grammy show without getting nominations in Album, Song or Record from the Secret Nominating Committee—and the process by which the Committee operates isn’t changing this year.

This is embarrassing that Hits refuses to let this go. Does anyone need, or even want, a Justin Timberlake performance in 2020?

And they’re full of shit, too, since Ariana was going to perform last year without marquee nominations. Ironically, it was the TV team that dropped the ball on that one, not the committee!

Special award for Justin Timberlake? For what? Having a bad album, a boring era and making a very forgetfull SB performance all in once?

Maybe surprising, maybe not, but Lizzo is nominated for AOTY at the BET Hip Hop Awards (along with Travis Scott, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, Tyler the Creator, and J. Cole/Dreamville). Obviously she raps, but she’s considered more pop/R&B, so this is a good sign of support for her.

The Soul Train Awards are another genre award show where she should make a strong showing in nominations, those should come out next month.

Time is changing dear. Today people even value a filthy whisper girl. So above 50 pages, a new thread is obvious

It would be entirely ridiculous if Lizzo is ineligible for BNA. The rules are so arbitrary and have changed constantly.

It has always been like that. They change the rules as it suits them. This time they had a meeting to decide if they were going to change them or not, and that was obviously because of Lizzo. If they wanted her to win, they would’ve changed them(!), but obviously they want Billie to win, so no changes were made. This is ridiculous, not only because they are intentionally manipulating the outcome, but because Billie would probably beat Lizzo if they were both nominated. They should just nominate her regardless of the rules since this was her breakout year.

People are foolish to believe the highest metacritic score will not be named AOTY. And by biggest name.

It’s highly unlikely for Beyoncé to get an AOTY nomination this year…. considering ASIB is the main soundtrack they’ll choose before Homecoming…
