Idk….Nominating an album full of live rendition of Hits for AOTY seems kinda lazy and not deserving IMO. Half of those are either already rewarded or nominated. It would be like a fraud nominee IMO. When we have original albums that deserve the spot more than homecoming. It’s still a good album nevertheless, just not worthy of that category

I mean I partially agree, but they’ve nominated worse. Plus, it’s not like Bey put no effort into Homecoming. Didn’t the good sis like, not eat for 8000 weeks in preparation.

Lover didn’t get critical acclaim. A 79 with no perfect scores is not necessarily enthusiastic.

YOU need to do research on what widespread critical acclaim means. Just because it’s her highest scoring album means nothing, because I Bet that score would look A LOT different if Reputation was never released, because most of the publications that reviewed it HAD to mention it. The reason why no ones putting it in their lists because it’s she same material she already won twice with, and (you’re going to disagree) but it’s basically come and gone. It had the highest first week sales, that’s it, and could’ve even survive a second week at #1 with those sales which means it was all hype, hype that faded.

I’m predicting Taylor to have a rough night, but it’s not like Metacritic scores matter anyway. Both her and Adele have won AOTY twice and none of them has any album above 80.

    My nominee predictions (alphabetical order)

    – A Star Is Born

    – Cuz I Love U

    – Igor

    – Lover

    – Norman Fucking Rockwell

    – Thank U, Next

    – This Land

    – When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go

Not especially a groundbreaking prediction. Also, how is This Land still at 100/1 odds?

Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare

These girlies really think a 79 is “widespread critical acclaim”

LOL Homecoming and Lover are not getting in Album. The Hive and Swifties learned nothing from last year. Their names are not enough. In fact, it never was. They won before because they had huge success and were well liked. Taylor is still doing well but there is an obvious backlash against her. She is no general public darling ever since she got exposed for being a snake. Beyonce thinks she is some kind of queen. People and fellow artists are not having that. Especially since she doesn’t have the success to back it up.

Listen I didn’t know there was a definition for widespread critical acclaim. I only said it because I’ve seen a lot of places review it favorably.

And to say that Lover is “the same material she’s already won twice with” makes me think you didn’t even listen to the album. Because there is not 1 song on Lover that could’ve been on 1989.

I get your point but that’s a stretch

Some people need reality check. There’s no backlash if Homecoming/Lover get nominated, you all are overreacting. Homecoming gets widespread acclaim meanwhile Lover is doing pretty good in both commercial and critical success. WINNING is another story.

I wouldn’t say NO ONE is talking about it. Plenty of mainstream publications are putting it in their AOTY predictions. Not saying that makes it true…. but it’s not like it came and went like the wind.

Plenty of critics and journalist mention Homecoming and predict it. People act only fans predict it but as we see with Billboard and many others they predict too.

But these people also think Ariana or that teenager stands a chance in the general field.
