Not true. The Grammy’s are not rigged like other awards shows. They’ve been transparent on how winners are determined. They are always chosen by the voters at large.
I have to disagree with this for three reasons, The Grammy’s are relatively more rigged than the Oscars or other award shows. First, having a committee decide the nominees is a form of rigging. An artist can get the #3 or even #1 highest amount of nomination votes, and the committee can still block that artist from a nomination. This is BLATANT gate keeping and you know that people on this panel have their own interests in attempting to block/boost certain artists. Second, the Grammy’s are like the least transparent award show. There are literally 90 pages of Oscar rules describing exactly how the voting process works. All we know about the Grammy voting process is that everyone votes in 4 GF categories and then self selects up to a certain number of genre categories. Beyond that, no one can explain to me if voters cast one vote per category, or cast some form or ranked or preferential ballot. The Grammy voting process is a literal black box, we just know votes go in and winners come out. Finally, the Oscars are much more likely to award non-commercially succesful and indie candidates than the Grammy’s, indicating that the best path to Oscar success is to make a great film with artistic merit, while the best path to Grammy success is to play the sales, radio play and streaming game even through means like payola. Grammy’s are the more rigged system.
November 14, 2019 at 1:48 pm #1203179587He hasn’t had a strong crossover smash, Beautiful Crazy did nicely on the charts, as most of his singles did, but mainly fueled from country radio solely. The most shocking snub for him was BNA to me
I hated seeing him get passed over earlier this year when he’s done nothing but hit a home run with every song from him that goes to radio.
God bless you and Luke always!!!

This is definitely the year of Lizzo vs Billie with legend Beyonce and veteran GaGa in the mix and eyes on Taylor. Ariana is just an afterthought to them.

November 14, 2019 at 6:14 pm #1203179933^^^or an album in any other language than English for that matter
November 14, 2019 at 6:21 pm #1203179939The lineup for AoTY this year will be really awful.
They should just give to A Star Is Born if nominated, and apologize to Gaga for being late.
If it’s not nominated, just give it to Billie who cares if it’s her debut. It’s really the only impactful and enjoyable album aside from ASIB, at least for me.

The 3 Tenors in Concert by Pácido Domingo, José Carreras, and Luciano Pavaroti got an AOTY nom in 1995.
