I wouldn’t call it the most critically acclaimed song of the year…maybe the most critically acclaimed popular song, but even then they praise the production or her voice rather than the lyrics. I would say one of Lana’s songs, probably “The greatest” is the most critically acclaimed song of the year.

Bad Guy is basically in every list of best songs of the year. More lists than The greatest

    Yeah that’s my mistake.

But I still think it’s due to the production rather than the lyrics.

Bad Guy technically is the most acclaimed song of 2019 (so far).

Exactly, if Old Town Road or Bad Guy does not win ROTY, I will revolt.

I just hope Billie is being overestimated by Golderby like Gaga was last year.

Bad Guy winning SoTY would far beyond atrocious. Give her BNA or RoTY, but SoTY would be tragic.

If they really give it to a song as bad lyrically as Bad Guy, might as well just remove that category. It brings more shame than honor.

So this means it will give the open opportunity to Lover song to win SOTY?

They’re the only two that deserve.

I would be okay with Truth Hurts winning as well.

I would put Lil Nas X and Billie over Lizzo on this one. Both productions are flavorful and authentic to the sounds both artists try on. Lizzo mostly shined on the vocals and the quotables on Truth Hurts. Billie and Nas have better production as well as variety. Both can appeal to different voters as well as get their genre appeal. It would also feel wrong to not award the longest number one song ever a Recording trophy ( that’s just a personal opinion, not based on the quality, just saying ). Anyways, I respect Lizzo and I have her going head to head with Billie for SOTY, with an upset from Taylor Swift.</p>

    most acclaimed song

Actually it’s Old Town Road when you combine the points for the Original and the Remix.

You guys are still underestimating Lewis Capaldi in Song of the year but carry on.

Lol Lewis Capaldi is not happening this year or any year. We don’t need another Ed Sheeran, one is already too many.

No way will Lewis Capaldi get more vote than Billie Eilish and Lizzo in SOTY.

Ariana Grande is top 3 in every category she’s in. You can call me delusional. 🙂

OTR with both versions is the most acclaimed song.

“Truth Hurts” came out in 2017, so it’s going to be missing on most 2019 lists.

Album of the Year is between Billie, Vampire Weekend, Ariana Grande and Lizzo. Those are the top 4.

Now if Ariana loses Pop Vocal Album as expected, it’s very unlikely that she’ll win AoTY. What hurts her chances is the way she’s seen as the runner-up rather than the frontrunner in her genre category.
