It’s strange seeing social media turn on Lizzo in a complete 180 this past week lol.
It’s been building for a few months now, but flipped completely after Ari Lennox’s rant. Really unfortunate imo, but Lizzo is an easy target and people love a pile-on.November 21, 2019 at 10:25 pm #1203196558

Yes Justin Bieber posted some shit on IG about how he will drop his album if his IG gets enough likes. I forgot to include Adele and Bieber and Drake on my list of megastars that are likely to release in the next year or two.
This decade end has me shook. But wtf for including Rebecca Black – Friday.
It’s Friday so that means new music drops on Spotify! What are we listening to first this week?November 21, 2019 at 11:05 pm #1203196587
Y’all are dismissing Norman Fucking Rockwell too much. Out of the 8 nominees, NFR! is the one with the highest acclaim and, although it did not reach n1 in BB200, it debuted with over 100k copies, which is quite good, considering how messy this era was. The album is also not doing badly on streaming services, she’s not pulling huge numbers, but it’s doing quite well.
Just how this album completely changed the industry’s perception of Lana Del Rey, how it shifted since the release of Born To Die, which was met with polarizing views. Norman Fucking Rockwell! has a lot going on to be able to snatch AOTY.
She cannot win AOTY with just one other nomination. What will it take for y’all to understand that? She couldn’t even get in Pop Vocal Album / Pop Solo and I doubt anyone has won AOTY without genre nominations. If they cared so much about critical acclaim Lorde would’ve won for Melodrama, Kendrick would win every time he was nominated and so on. Hate to break it to you but a nomination is the win for Lana, she’s the Janelle/Lorde of the year and nothing else.November 21, 2019 at 11:27 pm #1203196610
AOTY: When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go vs Thank U, Next vs Father Of The Bride
ROTY: Bad Guy
SOTY: Bad Guy
BNA: Billie Eilish
Pop Solo: Bad Guy
Pop Duo/ Group: Sunflower
Pop Vocal Performance: When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
Literally what I’m predicting lol, though I think OTR for ROTY and Lizzo for BNA are huge threats so I’m thinking of predicting them instead.
I think Bon Iver is being underestimated for AOTY though, their album is probably the one country voters will back up the most so that + some rock + alt votes could help them prevail.November 21, 2019 at 11:35 pm #1203196623
You guys will gag when Alicia Keys open the envelope and says “And the Grammy for Album of the Year goes to……
Thank U Next, Ariana Grande!”November 21, 2019 at 11:37 pm #1203196625

Hopefully that means never lol.

Arcade Fire got a genre nomination so I don’t get your point lol. Lana doesn’t have any genre noms, she isn’t winning.
Yes but Lana’s voters aren’t really pop voters, she will get a majority of her support from the indie/alternative/rock/singer-songwriter voters. Most pure pop voters will vote for Billie, Lizzo, Beyonce, etc. If she had submitted in Best Alternative Album, she certainly would have been nominated there.November 21, 2019 at 11:56 pm #1203196642

She was able to get in Pop Vocal Album for Paradise and Lust for Life though? She’s not winning, period.November 22, 2019 at 12:02 am #1203196648

Those albums fit more cleanly into the pop category than NFR does. Also, the fact that she has gotten into the pop category shows that she does have at least some good will among the pop voting block.November 22, 2019 at 12:09 am #1203196656
