Also Future Nostalgia really crept up huh? I never would’ve imagined it did this well it’s probably the shift in how pop music is reviewed nowadays

Magdalene got #2, but it only got 315 points with 126 lists. The lists were especially all over the place last year. And there weren’t albums that were widely, overwhelmingly acclaimed. That’s what helped NFR get an easy number one placement. This is probably the first year since 2012 that had quite a few albums appear in a shit ton of lists.

Most of the lists come out after the Grammy nods, and no one starts talking about the aggregated lists on AOTY and MC until December. So, they don’t have an impression on the nods. Also, it’s very difficult to tell from year to year what the BRP is gonna do, what artists is gonna get someone pushing for them in those meetings, and what the panel will be motivated by.
