She might not win, (I think she will eventually), but she will get a lot of GF nominations – she is only 28 right? I mean…

How people are sure 34+35 remix is pop/duo ? I mean it could be moved to another category right ?

That means she has 2 more years until pop radio drops her.

Positions(song) will be kinda old by the voting time in pop solo.

Positions might be old but it’s one of the biggest pop hits of this period. Unless Ariana’s team submits POV (which I doubt), I don’t see positions missing.

I think we should wait to judge Olivia’s chances until we see how the next few months play out for her. If she manages to keep the interest high with new singles and maybe an album/EP that replicate at least a bit of her lead’s success, I could see her being a huge contender (kinda reminds me of 2014 Lorde). But I do agree that if by october she’ll only have drivers license on her hands she could very well be another Carly Rae Jepsen or Vanessa Carlton.

Don’t forget Truth Hurts was originally released in 2017 and still won in 2020. It’s obviously a different case scenario with Positions but I don’t think the “old” factor really matters to the Recording Academy.

FYC | Best music this season:

Marina - Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land
Arlo Parks - Collapsed In Sunbeams
    St. Vincent - Daddy's Home
    Jazmine Sullivan - Heaux Tales
    Wolf Alice - Blue Weekend

Truth Hurts became a hit during the summer though. It was the perfect timing for the Grammy’s. I don’t thing the timing of release matters as much as the timing of peak visibility.

ROM peaked with 70m radio audience, was performed at the VMAS before the voting and a magazine was sent to each voter. I mean it is not like it was incognito campaign and Ariana had many songs in late december from Positions charting. It was easier to vote than an album track or a kpop song.

Now Beyonce is a different story, she is kinda one of her own league.

Nothing on positions is worthy of a Grammy. Don’t get me wrong I love the album, it has the bops and hits but it’s just not what wins you Grammys.

I want an upset in Pop Vocal Album, apart Billie or Ariana. Billie is rumoured for April btw.

Actually, last 3 Pop Vocal Album winners had also big acclaim, Sweetener, WWAFAWDG and Future Nostalgia ended up high on the YEC of AOTY.org. I think if you have hits you win and the acclaim is sealing the deal, as an extra. All last 3 winners had interesting production and connected producers won POTY, too. I actually consider this good, because they kinda evaluate the project as a whole it seems. Ariana and Justin so far have the hits, Miley has the interesting production for me. I dont see Taylor winning after losing to Dua this year. The upcoming Billie album is the safest bet all things considered and if Therefore I Am is in the tracklist it is even better for its chances.
