Madison Beer’s Album is surprisingly solid. I wouldn’t mind a best new Artist nomination. I’m not going to predict that though because it just feels like, unfortunately, she lacks credibility to a lot of people. Beer needs an Undeniable hit to her name.

I mean they did get a surprise pop duo nod pretty recently.

Granted, I still don’t think Matches has any real chance. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart was a single at least, Matches is a deluxe track from a re-issue of a 2016 project. Sure, there might be some sympathy for Britney but does anyone even know this song?

Does anyone need to know it? Name-check nominations are a thing. Pop Duo/Group isn’t too terribly crowded at this point either. The only hard-locked nominees are “Levitating” and “Peaches,” and maybe “Kiss Me More.”

Levitating is obviously currently leading the Pop Duo category, the song is #5 on USA Spotify and was released October 2020. I wonder what promo they have for it, Grammys wise.

I feel like a name-check would be a lot more likely if it was under the BSB rather than Britney, because of how early they are on the ballot. I’m not entirely sure voters will go look for Britney if they aren’t even aware she released music.

I think perhaps the closest precedent for an unknown song getting because of an artist’s narrative would be Fall In Line? And even then, I don’t think Demi’s overdose is why that got nominated, seeing as Sober and Anyone both missed.

In a perfect utopia, even if she released an album again, Britney Spears would never be namechecked because only people who vote for Taylor Swift would see her name on the ballot. Plus, she’s not Grammy friendly.

Lazy voters click on Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber or Kelly Clarkson’s submissions and call it a day.

The alphabet ends in T as in Timberlake. Apparently, (The) Weeknd does not exist.

tl;dr: Brit Brit’s 2010 nomination will be her last.

    FYC:

Album of the Year: "Call Me If You Get Lost" by Tyler, The Creator
Record of the Year: "WAP" by Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion
Song of the Year: "Good Days" by SZA ft. Jacob Collier

I stand by my theory that BPD/GP had 7 nominees in 2019 because over 80% of voters voted for Shallow & The Middle.

And since nobody votes at the Grammys anymore, the three songs that “tied” probably received like… 2 votes each.

Britney could very well be nominated if she releases a record that has that narrative, sort of like Kesha. But we know she won’t do it.

Britney will probably never release another album again. Or until she’s in her 50’s-60’s.

I’m still holding onto Beautiful Mistakes for Pop Duo/Group Performance. I personally love the song and hope it gets nominated. Maroon 5 and Megan Thee Stallion are both Best New Artist winners maybe because of this it can squeeze its way in. Girls Like You was nominated so its not not possible.

“Anyone” higher than “willow”? Taylor is more of a perennial nominee in BPSP than Bieber.
