Planet HER is top5 ever since release on BB200. It is performing better than Justin and Positions and has active singles going into voting season, it is obviously in pop vocal album.

“Planet Her” becomes the FIRST album by a female rapper in HISTORY to spend its first 11 weeks in Billboard 200’s Top 5.

The Grammys (or even Billboard for that matter) don’t consider her a female rapper so I don’t think that’s relevant.

But yes, it is a hit album. My concern is does it feel that big to the average Grammy voter who doesn’t follow the constant new TikTok trends?

Right now I have her 6th, but my 3-6 range is neck and neck.

Planet Her should go to Progressive R&B honestly but it will end up in Pop

Heat Waves has been going viral on TikTok recently and their label was been pushing back on streaming & radio again. Feels like it could the annual “real band” nominee this year.

    Oscars FYC:

    "CODA" – in all categories

"Everybody's Talking About Jamie" – Sup. Actor (Richard E. Grant), Sup. Actress (Sarah Lancashire) and Original Song (“This Was Me”)

"King Richard" – Original Song (“Be Alive”)

"Summer of Soul" – Picture, Film Editing and Documentary Feature

“The Green Knight” – in all categories

Planet Her is a pop album. Submitting it to Best Progressive R&B Album would just be a terrible move. Doja works well in the pop field unfortunately her competition is pretty strong this year.

Also off topic but Ozuna x BLACKPINK x Megan Thee Stallion is coming and it’s such an odd pairing but I’m excited.

Such a weird pairing. Hope the song is good at least. BP collabs tend to be pretty bad or average (bet you wanna, ice cream, sour candy). Kiss & make up was a bop though.

Will this release this Grammy cycle or next?

Probably next cycle because Ozuna just released a single

Yeah, that’s my thing too. I’m 26 and don’t give a shit about Tik Tok, and I just know Doja is there from what I hear of her on the radio (“Kiss Me More,” “You Right,” “Need to Know”). I know statistically that she’s one of the top stars of the year, but in my little bubble she’s just another artist who released this year. She doesn’t feel as year-defining as someone like Olivia or Lil Nas X.

Camila Cabello is someone that I could see getting a shock BPSP nod. Not something I would bet on but it wouldn’t shock me that much. She has performed at the ceremony 3 times, has been nominated in every pop category, and is a  2-time Latin Grammy winner (Best Pop Song and Record of the Year). So she should never fully be counted out.

I agree. Plus her song “Don’t Go Yet” is very much something that would align with the tastes of the Recording Academy in terms of what they like.

The problem is the song is not a “hit” so unless it starts moving up and popping off, I don’t think it can be a final contender for a nom.

I think Pop Solo will be a bit random this year. I see the Academy checking off artist names rather than the biggest singles of the year.

I would not be surprised to see Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa and Doja Cat all nominated in Pop Solo… potentially over #1 hits by the likes of Ariana and Taylor.
