People claimed Katy Perry & Rihanna were singles artists and they still managed to get in Best Pop Vocal Album. I think it boils down to which projects have remained the most consistent & present. Doja’s year is undeniable. Between successful songs, steady sales, performing/hosting gigs, streams, and good reviews she’s maintained a high profile. That’s why I wouldn’t underestimate her. Same goes for Lil Nas X. Either might lead nominations.

Only Ariana? Probably in recent years, because having 3 top 10s on pop radio has happened before, iirc

There’s been plenty of albums with 3 top 10 pop radio hits but Ariana and Doja are the only two to have them simultaneously!

To me a singles artist is someone like Flo Rida… Rihanna released albums every year and they all went platinum.

    My current Doja Cat predictions:

    Record of the Year
    Album of the Year
    Song of the Year
    Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
    Best Pop Vocal Album
    Best Music Video
Maybe nominations in R&B or Rap Fields too

I’d call her a soft lock for BPDGP, she’s in contention for ROTY but far from a lock.

This is no longer really correct. They are under HYBE (aka Big Hit Entertainment). HYBE bought Scooters company lock, stock, and barrel which makes it now the largest entertainment company. Scooter may still be on the board but that also means he now has to answer to said board.

Havign a good management with influence in the industry to campaign their artists is important. But people act like only Scooter’s clients benefit from this and not EVERY nominee from a big label.

I’m not sure what some mean by “singles artist”, at least commercially.

Critics are trashing Music of the Spheres, and I agreed. It’s their worst album by far wtf

I too agree. 🤢 I don’t really get the reasoning behind those random collabs with BTS, Selena Gomez and Jacob Collier other than desperation for charts and another AOTY nom. Coldplay do NOT need to make garbage pop music and collabs to produce a great record, but I guess gone are those days.
